"My scar is a marking given to me by the moon; well, not exactly, but it's blessed me with it." Moon smiles. "I remember getting it when I was just a to-be; it was magical. You wanna hear about it? Sure, of course I'll tell you."

"Once upon a time, when I'd become 10 moons, I went out into the forest without my mentor. Then, Lio came running after me.
'Stop, Moon, what are you doing?!' he shouted at me.
I told him that I wanted to go on an adventure. Being the great friend that he is, he was determined to help me. 'What do you need?' he asked. 'Well, we just need to get over to that big mountain there, to find the moon!' I said. And so, we tried to get up onto the mountain. Lio layed a bit further down, while the moon bit my eye."

DarkStream watched AppleBite drag the cat up the rock he stood on, KestralSnap beside him. AppleBite threw LittleDove down at his paws, and the small tom hissed, striking out at the Ursa Major. DarkStream turned to the side, but claws met his eye and he grit his teeth to hold in the yowl of pain.
"KILL HIM!" The Ursa Major snapped, blood soaking his fur as he glared down at the cat. They turned him to face the rest of the clan. AppleBite held him down while KestrelSnap bit into LittleDove's neck, blood spilling over the rock.
"Let this set an example. My leadership is not one to be questioned" DarkStream scowled before leaping off the rock, trotting to the Leo's to get his wound treated.
To DarkStream, his scar is a sign of his leadership. To the rebellion, it's a sign of LittleDove's defiance, his drive to fight corruption.

Frozentuft begins telling his story "it was a icy night, the fire kingdom attacked us and caught us by surprise, I was sent to get the other kingdoms and got caught by a fire kingdom cat, we fought for awhile before I got to the other kingdoms" Frozentuft continued "Once I was finally there after the fire kingdom cat had gotten me pretty scratched and was still following me, I got to the Forest kingdom who told the water kingdom. After this, there was a wave of cats, helping the Cloud kingdom the best that they could" Frozentuft smiled "I was healed well but kept this scar, the memories and was left with a blind eye" Frozentuft finished his story "Now go to bed young one, more stories will come when you rise in the morning"

Trianne makes up a different story practically every time she’s asked about her eye patch, half the people she knows don’t even believe there’s anything wrong with her eye under that thing. She certainly seems pleased to tell her tales of woe and bravery, anything to get attention is worth it, even going half blind, or so she’s convinced herself.

You want the truth? She doesn’t even know the truth! Best she can figure is she must’ve gotten drunk one night and picked a fight with someone she shouldn’t have, but she tells herself she must have won, I mean if she can’t remember, then who’s saying she didn't? Other than the fact that she’s now half blind.

And that is what really happened, and in one universe she’ll never know the truth. In another though? One not so far away? Someone might just be looking for revenge.

She knows she ought to be proud of the scar.

The moment is one Rainshard knows she'll never forget- herself, braced in the camp entrance, fending off an intruder, beating her opponent away from her vulnerable campmates. In turning to deal the combatant a bite, she had left the side of her face open to being clawed- and claw her they did, taking tufts of fur and the sight in her eye with them.

She doesn't regret risking herself for her clan- not at all. But when small kittens who have not yet heard the story gasp in fear? When cats less accustomed to her avert their gaze? When she sees her own reflection, the way the scars mar her face? She can't help but feel ashamed.

It ought to be a mark of pride.

If only it were that easy, to see it as anything but ugly.
