"Are you sure that the river isn't going to swell in the spring when all the snow melts off that mountain?" His body slanted towards the mountain in the backdrop. Cattlestar could barely make out the snow resting on top of it. She cocked her head and looked at him. She knew he was new. The newest to the clan, but it seemed that he worried the most out of all of the cats that she had recruited.

Cattlestar shook her head, “Sloeheart, I understand you are worried about our campsite next to the stream, but I’ve lived here for a couple of years and that has never happened before. Ever. End of story.”

Sloeheart groaned, “I get it. I get it. I really do. But, I’ve seen floods before. I’ve seen the damage-“

She cut him off before he got any farther, “No. This river bed has been nothing but a stream ever since the Two-legs have built that thing at the start of it. Now. You take Aspencry and go hunt. The fresh kill pile is getting too low.”

He narrowed his eyes. “This isn’t the end of this conversation!” He yowled as she walked away, flicking her tail with obvious annoyance.

"Flypaw!"

A tiny black molly teetered several fox-lengths up a tree, completely ignoring her mentor's cries.

CRACK - The branch looked as if it was about to snap in two.

"Flypaw, get down here this instant!" Rookstone yowled. His ears flattened as he heard it crack further. "FLYPAW!!"

Flypaw hissed, "Fox-dung!" The grackle that was only a few mouse-lengths away was now. Rook was still yowling at the top of his lungs under her. With a sigh, she leapt back to the trunk and grumbled the whole way down. "Satisfied?"

"You bird-brain! You could've gotten seriously hurt up there. What in Starclan were you thinking? That branch was about to snap!" the scarred tom rambled. Before the apprentice could attempt to justify her actions, she was already being led back to the camp by the scruff. Rook wasn't going to stand for her disobeying her elders again. It wasn't the first time this moon that she'd rebelled during their training sessions.

She was half-dragged all the way back to the apprentices' den. Once they were there, she ended up sitting through the rest of the lecture before being punished with the duty of having to groom and pick ticks off the elders. The gruff tom sighed as she stalked off. He might've be a bit rough on her, but all he wanted was for the little warrior to grow up safe and sound. One of these days, he feared that she'd ignore him to go do something reckless and he wouldn't be fast enough to save her from it. She could get herself seriously injured or worse, dead. Maybe one day, the restless molly would settle down to where she didn't constantly seek dangerous feats.

But for now, he worried himself sick each and every day, hoping that he'd still have an apprentice to train come sun-up.

What does he worry about most?:
Swifttail worries most about his children. Minkpelt and Sunclaw are his most treasured beings, and cares for them above all else.

Sunclaw is not his biological son, but Swifttail took him in as his own when he was a young kit. Swifttail and Redwing, Sunclaw's mother, had always been close friends, so when Redwing fell pregnant but made no indication of sharing who the father was, Swifttail promised to help her care for her kits. Swifttail acted as a father figure to Sunclaw, and became very close to the tom. During Sunclaw's apprenticeship, Minkpelt was born, and the family couldn't be happier. Sunclaw eventually became a warrior, and after some moons, deputy. Minkpelt trained as a healer and took over from the elderly healer not long after her naming ceremony.

All was well for many moons until Redwing fell sick one leaf-bare. Swifttail and his kits had to say goodbye to her after two moons of suffering, when she could no longer fight for her life. Ever since that sad day, Swifttail and the kits have become closer than ever. The tom often worries over his children, as he knows that the world is a harsh and uncaring place, but finds solice in the knowledge that Redwing is watching over them from the spirit-realm. He is a proud father, and could not love Sunclaw and Minkpelt more.
