anthony's parents moved near the appalachian mountains when they found out they were having him. upon doing so, his parents heard of a new superstition and therefore passed it down to their son. anthony constantly fears crows and groups of them, and pray's that they will never happen to call. where he lives, if a low flying group of crows flies past the house, it means illness is due. however, if crow passes a house while calling 3 times, it means death is due. normally, anthony probably wouldn't have believed it, as he thinks many superstitions are quite far fetched. however, one day a crow was sitting a top his house. his sister had been born a few months ago, and he was still a toddler, who knew no better than to go straight for the bird. he scared away the crow, to which it called three times as it flew away. later that month, his sister died of multiple complications. after that, anthony has always avoided crows and prayed he would never see one again.

Do they have any superstitions they live by? Scarlet lives by four different supersitions. She believes that horseshoes hung up in the shape of a "u" over doorways bring good luck, and that when they are hung up in the shape of an "n" they will instead bring bad luck, and has a horseshoe hanging over each side of the main entrance to her house, one over either side of the door to her back garden, one in the corridor over the doorway leading to her room, and one over her window just in case, you know, to make sure that a rock or some other projectile doesn't accidentally smash through it and that birds don't ever crash into it. She also believes that touching wood avoids having bad luck, and stops to pad the wooden floor in her room a few times whenever she enters it, and she also wears a wooden ankle bracelet, which leads to another of her superstitions: the bracelet is made of beads carved in the shape of four-leafed clovers. She believes that these also bring good luck, and searched for them whenever she was around clover patches when she was a kit, sometimes she still does, actually, but she's never found one. Her last superstition is her belief that the colour blue brings good luck and happiness. She wore lots of blue clothes as a kit but doesn't wear it much anymore: instead, she painted one of her room's walls dark blue and the others sky blue, and she also painted some of her furniture blue and purchased blue furniture, which stands out among the rest of her furniture, which is mostly made of wood. So I think it's safe to say that although she only has a few superstitions, they have a clear presence in her life.
