A dog named Teddy, of golden fur, soft
Obtained his name in the high hay loft
His fur, you see, was once golden brown
Huge strands were like a teddy bear’s down
A winter most cold breezed through his town
The time of deep sleep had come around
He closed his eyes, buried in hay
And there he had stayed for many a day
But when he woke up, come spring, melted frost
He slept warm the whole winter, but at a cost!
The dusty brown fur once brown as a bear
Turned to gold of shades so bright and so fair
Though it sounds like something from dreams held high and aloft
Dear Teddy would prefer for fur unscoffed!
