For the longest of times, dragons were feared and hunted for their glowing pearls, the source of their powers and give mortals the ability to live forever. They were bartered and traded among the mortals once their pearls were stolen and taken away, except for one. This mortal had a little girl who was in awe and in love with an adolescent blue dragon, who looked just like any other dragon, but she knew there was something special about him and begged to keep him. When the dragon finally grew up, he turned into a magnificent and majestic beast, who grew up in the presence of a studious girl. He too learned to love books and although she is now gone, the dragon continues to hoard books, tucked away in a mountain, where he could read them to his pearl's desire. It's pearl glows an iridescent blue for the girl it learned to love and cherish as much as she cared for him, and one day he hopes to write a story about his journey to add to his collection.
