Welcome to AWAR. We are a new animal rescue that has recently just started out but we are growing fast. We have our center on an island not to far from the coast of Spain, this ensures that all animals kept here cannot put any lives in danger in the event that they escape or something happens. The island is private but tourists are occasionally brought in. We focus mainly on rescuing wild animals in need, let it be: injury, a result of poachers, being kept as illegal pets or abusive zoos. All animals have a second chance here.

Our trained professionals ensure that each animal, if possible, will be returned into the wild. However, this is not always possible due them growing up dependent on humans or because of injury or a disability, so sometimes they are sold to zoos or facilities where they will be looked after for their needs. While the animal is with us we try to ensure that they live as comfortably as possible and to return them to the wild as soon as they are able.

ʙᴜɪʟᴅɪɴɢ "A"

our facility consists of three main buildings. the first building is the second largest, and is the first building you see as you arrive at the center. we call it building A, and it is the only building available for guests and non-staff members. when you come in, you see this. at the desk, you can purchase maps and souvenirs. Staff members get maps for free, as well as a tiny book which has a picture of each of the animals, their names, were they were rescued from etc.. the staff must concentrate on the specific animal they were assigned to, but that does not mean that they are not allowed to visit other species. After you past the lobby, you get to the part of the building were the animals that are ready to be shipped out are kept. Visitors that would like to purchase animals usually look here. The first enclosure you will see is the feline enclosure. We have a few of these and each species of big cat has its own enclosure, such as tigers and lions. Next we have the wolf enclosure and the sea lion. The building ends with a kitchen, where the animal food is kept and prepared.

ʙᴜɪʟᴅɪɴɢ "B"

Next we have the B building, which is the largest in the facility. Guests and non-staff members are not allowed to visit here. Here, the animals that were just rescued and are still either being trained or recovered, are kept here. When you just walk in, you see this. There are enclosures for tigers, wolves, lions, jaguars and sea lions. Each enclosure is attached to a sleeping area or "den".When you walk past all of those, you come to the "kennel" area, animals that are too weak, sick or dangerous to be released or kept with other animals are kept here. It is usually temporary.

We have a section specifically for aquatic animals. Here we mostly have sea lions, dolphins and belugas. Each has a separate aquarium which accounts to their needs. Sea lions have their own enclosure.

There is a vet's office for small, or baby animals. And a vets office for large animals. Then we have a meeting room were the staff holds private meetings.

ʙᴜɪʟᴅɪɴɢ "C"

Lastly, we have the c building. It is the building were our staff lives and sleeps. The building is divided into three parts, the boy rooms, girl rooms and extra facilities. The rooms are all the same, each person has their own room and their own personal space. The extra facilities are at the very back of the building and they include: a movie theater, fitness center and gym, and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool.

animal behavourists:
someone who studies of the ways in which
animals interact with each other, with other
living beings, and with the environment.

animal trainer:
a person that teaches animals how to do
certain things, or helps them recover after
trauma and how to live with other animals
of the same species.

Thoala was in building B, looking at the wolf enclosure at all the current wolves they had in recovery. Most of them seemed quite happy; but it worried her that most might not be able to be returned into the wild. She sighed, and took out her notebook from her bag which she has over her shoulder. She was watching one wolf in particular: Hollie. Hollie was a wolf they took in pregnant, it was hard to tell how many months she was but she was probably going to birth soon. Her belly looked round and heavy, it was exciting to know that they were going to get newborn wolf puppies in the facility. However, once they're old enough and healthy, they will probably be sold to zoos or attempted to be released.

She wrote down notes about her behavior, she seemed quite happy to be in company of the other wolves. She watched them carefully.

Hollie stood on a large log in the centre of their enclosure, looking around at the other wolves. She was glad to be in their company, with the pack she felt almost wild in the wilderness. Though she never really knew what the was like, being born in a zoo, she could imagine that it wouldn't feel too far off. Perhaps she could ask some of the other wolves who were brought in from the wild, maybe they could tell her? It made her wonder if they liked it here; you get food, warmth and safety. But maybe all of that is nothing compared to being able to run free? She gazed at the sky, lost in thought.

Coral still wasn't quite used to the life outside the ocean. He felt quite claustrophobic in his aquarium, even though it was relatively large and full of other dolphins he could interact with. He hasn't really approached the pod that was formed by the dolphins already there, unsure if it was a good idea. Besides, its not like it would be any benefit to him, it's not like he's in any danger there. Regardless, he was sure to get lonely soon, and that's when he will choose to socialise.

Zafa lay in the handmade cave in her enclosure, the floor covered in dry hay. Her only cub was nestled by her side, asleep. She looked at him, his white fur contrasting against her amber coat. Smiling, she decided to let him sleep and started cleaning her paws with her tongue, grooming her one good paw and then the stump of where her other front paw used to be. She got used to living with a missing paw, even though it makes her life much more difficult, it's better than being dead. Besides, she has her son, so she was happy.

Pico sat near to the entrance of the coyote enclosure. She didn't like being apart from humans and being chilly out the pup was in a foul mood. Giving a small yelp attempting to get attention from anyone she could. Maybe they would bring her into the warm vet office where she was first brought when she came here?

Desmond scratched at his fur, the ticks were annoying as could be, laying his head down he would just let it be. With a small huff he looked around, it felt cold, but not as cold as the zoo where he had grew up was. At least here he was treaty properly and given shelter un-like the old zoo. Finally, Desmond licked his paw before closing his eyes a bit to attempt to get some sleep.

Gypsy growled slightly as her stomach grumbled. Slowly rising to her feet she stayed in the back corner, flashing her over grown canines at any person that walked past. She shook slightly, looking over at the food they had been trying to feed her for the past four days. Walking over to the food she sniffed it, tempted to take a bite before shaking her head and pushing it aside. As she grew thin with each passing day she was getting up and moving around less and less, conserving her energy for something incase she needed it. There were sore patches on her gums where her overgrown teeth were digging into them so she laid down with a partly opened jaw, trying to advoid the contact between them. [writer's block]

Wolfie was already up, she was whistling to herself as she took a few large slabs of meat from the kitchen counter and pushed them off the side and into a dull orange bucket. Bending down slightly the trainer picked the bucket and walked over towards the main wolf enclosure, figuring she'd deal with the injured afterwards. She rested her arms on the railing and looked down at the pack "morning you miserable lot." She called with a slight chuckle; she loved the wolves, even though they couldn't exactly speak to her she'd still talk to them as if they were humans. Noticing Thaola nearby she offered a warm smile but soon went back to looking at the wolves, "well everyone is still alive and well down there." She murmured, peering over the edge as she took a piece of emptiness her hands and rested it on the railing.
