The name of these creatures comes from ancient Norse mythology. Yggdrasil is the mythical ash-tree that connects the nine worlds to each other. Below it lives a dragon, Níðhöggr, who gnaws at one of the three roots of the tree. This dragon also devours the corpses of those who have committed horrible crimes.
Nidhogg (Anglicized from Níðhöggr) hounds seek those who commit crimes and make sure that justice happens. They also act as gatekeepers of the nine worlds, making sure that those who aren't supposed to cross the borders do not do such.
Their appearance is a mix of reptile and canine and their unique front-feet give them the ability to climb the Yggdrasil.
Only those who are truthful and pure can handle such a creature. Nidhogg hounds do not hesitate to punish their own owners if they happen to commit a crime. You should treat them with respect and kindness, and you should never try to prevent them from performing their task (as you are bound to fail if you try).
Hound roles/positions
Gatekeeper: These are the calmest and most patient of Nidhogg hounds. They watch the paths to other worlds, making sure that no one unwanted enters. They tend to be a bit bulkier/muscular than other Nidhogg hounds.
Finder: These hounds seek and find those who have committed crimes. They are very swift, tall and have great stamina for long distance running.
Punisher: The darkest individuals of these creatures. They make sure that justice happens to those who have committed crimes. They sometimes have horns, a feature that other hounds rarely have. Their claws are always sharp and they often have red eyes.

- Do not re-sell these for any currency, gifting hounds is allowed.
- Act kind in the posts involving Nidhogg hounds, absolutely no malevolent behaviour is tolerated.
- Do not ask to be staff, unless such positions are open.
- These rules may be edited if I see a reason to do so.
