Hello, and welcome to the German Winter Draft Adoption thread!
Please read over the rules and breed information before adopting.

Image

New • You must mark the fanclub before applying for any new adopts!

• Please follow all site rules.

• Do not claim a GWD if it does not belong to you. Character theft will result in a ban.

• Do not steal the design of a GWD and transfer it to another lineart. If a design that was clearly copied is found within your possession you will be warned.

• Talking hatefully to or about anyone in the community will get a warning on first offense and ban on second.

• Do not PM artists asking for customs or breedings of any kind. They will post on the fanclub when they are offering those.

• Please don't spam any GWD threads. This includes double posting, one worded responses, and continuously talking about other species.

• Chimeric and Brindle are rare traits, therefore are not seem commonly around adoptions. These cannot be requested in customs unless it's been run by me first.

• You, as a regular adopter, may receive one custom per month. If you order or receive more than that you will be warned on first offense and banned on second.

• Artists (not including guest) may receive up to two customs per month, but they may not be made by themselves unless they are opting to have just one in two months. Staff other than artists count as a regular adopter.

• Trading or trading GWD is accepted, however the original owner must post on the GWD and formerly announce change in ownership.

• Selling your GWD or their breeding slots is prohibited. If you are caught doing this you will be warned on first offense and banned on second.

• GWD have ten breeding slots in their lifetime. Mares can only be bred twice in a season, and stallions can breed unlimited.

• GWD are only breedable during the breeding season, in November, December and January.

• Foals are breedable two weeks after their creation date - the artist will put that date in their info.

• If a mare is bred three times or more during a season, the foal will be confiscated and put up for adoption, and the mare will still lose her slot.

• If at any time you are banned from the GWD adopt, your drafts will be taken and readopted, and will no longer belong to you unless I otherwise state so.

More will be added as necessary.

personal note: 37-40 were never made, need to get done

Breed Characteristics wrote:Near the top of Sonntagshorn Mountain in Germany, a new breed of drafts was discovered. Along with their long, silky coats, they range from 17.2hh (70) to 18.3hh (75)(inches) tall, from hoof to shoulder, making them just a few hands taller than the average Belgian draft. They have been found in nearly every natural coat color and marking combination, from black to bay, and rose gray to fleabitten. There have not yet been any signs of chimerism or unnatural brindling, but it is a possibility.
GWD are generally very friendly, and are comfortable around people and other animals.
What has surprised people the most about this breed is their very long fur and the way they breed. Their coats, long and beautiful, do not get matted or knotted. You could take a fine toothed brush to a wild GWD and not find a tangle anywhere. Specialists have concluded it's due to the oils in their skin, which acts as a natural untangler and keeps their coat smooth and shiny - without the oily effect.
The way they breed, is completely different from normal horses. Generally, horses are breedable at times of the year. However, GWDs are only able to breed in the colder winter months of November, December and January. If they are bred outside of these months without aid, the foal - and possibly the mare - would die.

More may be added as I think of it ♥
