Sanguessuga wasn’t her real name, that was βδέλλα (Greek for bloodsucker) but Sanguessuga was Portuguese for bloodsucker so it kinda worked. That and it sounded cool. Sanguessuga was a decedent of the four Mares of Diomedes, named Podagros, Lampon, Xanthos, and Deimos, who were crazed, man-eating horses owned by the giant Diomedes. She couldn’t help using her loud booming oops there she went again. Obviously these mares had been tamed by Hercules years ago but being a descendent of these mares gave her a brilliant excuse to dress up as them for Halloween.
