i deeply detest 90% of closed species , never understood the appeal at all and have seen some extremely toxic communities form out of/around them , HARD agree.
Im also chronically allergic to rules ESPECIALLY in my freetime . Making silly little characters is my hobby , i will not let some rando dictate me what i can do or how i can design my character, just to be part of some gated community.why bow to someone else's rules if i can just make a creature myself on my own, especially since a lot of "species" aren't even all that original to Begin with. I prefer to play this type of thing on my own anyway, I'll just make my own characters if I want to, i need no fancy name and rules attached to it , nor do I need to be parts of some cool kids club to enjoy them. I found that communities like this often prey on the need of socially isolated people to be "part of something" , and create artificial desires and demands not quite unlike gambling or gacha games , especially if the closed species implemented a rarity system. There's also a lot of competition and jealousy going on between members a lot of the time. The whole thing just feels majorly uncomfortable to me most of the time. I do enjoy the people who made up a coll creature and invite others to make their own and play together, but more often than not its about power and also often about extracting currency from vulnerable people.i used to hang out in the online art community a lot , not that much because i participated but more because thats where most kf my homies come from, and i witnessed so much melodrama and toxic nonsense through their experiences, im extremely cautious around closed species.
Chicken nuggets arent tasty at all .
