Seria was surprised at how big Mount Willow Tree seemed to be growing. Last moon, Sol and her stumbled upon Rusty, a tenderpaw that was to be trained under Sol. The three of them were getting along well but soon after they found three more dogs to join them! They seemed a little lost in the wilderness so Seria welcomed them all in with open arms - er, paws really. These new dogs were Aster, a sweet she-dog who is friendly to others, Conner, who has somewhat of an attitude but once you know him he's okay and then there was... Kierat. Kierat was an eager little dog who has offered to help for many things but Seria was a little worried about him. He was rather small and she was afraid he might trip and fall. Her worries may have been for nothing as he enjoyed running up and down the hill and he seemed to be adapting well.

Seria sat in their den and smiled as she looked at her fellow packmates. Sol was telling Rusty what he would teach him today and Aster and Conner were laying down next to each other. Kierat was watching outside, itching to go outside and do something. Seria got up and walked towards Sol.

"Sol, I will be going out for a while. You may decide some patrols if you like," she told him.
"Oh, okay. Stay safe out there. Also, I'm going to go training with Rusty," he smiled and cocked his head towards the tall tenderpaw.
"Ah yes, that would be best. See you all later!" she called and padded out. When she left, Sol told the others to go hunting. Kierat immediately rushed out the den with Aster and Conner close behind.

Meanwhile, Seria was going to talk to the ancestors. With a growing kennel, there was also danger. Not amongst them of course but if someone were to get an accident that would be trouble. So, she decided that they would need a shaman. She found a quiet spot and looked to the sky.

"Ancestors, I request for you to send me a shaman. Someone who is wise and knows how to cure all sorts of things," she said. She closed her eyes and howled. Then after some time, she walked back home to her kennel.

Silence. Complete and utter silence. The mind longs for it all the time, but when do we get it? Cold. Surrounding and consuming cold. It happens in certain regions of the world, certain seasons, but also in death. Death and silence go together. Cold and death hold hands. Silence and cold are long friends... There is never a break in the bustle of life, never a dull moment even when one finds time to lay down, to sleep, to just stare. There is always something there. Looming. Forever...
Cho-Lynn opens her eyes to see many sleeping bodies around her, one nest with a couple curled close and happy. She huffed. That omega didn’t belong in here... but she couldn’t bring herself to separating them. Especially not when they were so peaceful and sleeping together. They truly were a couple from dreams, one you never see coming but always dream of having happen. She let a yawn consumer her, eyes closing and mouth widening. As the yawn faded, she stretched abd curled her tail more. Then, shakig her fur out she rose from her nest and padded out of the den into the clearing. Her leader already sat there, quiet.

Bronco had woken up as dawn was rising and hiding the ancestors from view once more. They were so close to them up in the mountains but... just not there. Not yet. He couldn’t seem to find sleep easily that night and ended up just tossing and turning until he decided to give up. His pack was growing from the lonely thing it began as, and he was very happy with it, but something was still missing for him... he just didn’t know what. There was a pup-mother, pup, tenderpaws, ironteeth, shamans, even an elder. But... he couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He just stared off into the ground, mind blank and alone. Until he decided to ask the pack in the stars for someone that could fill an empty spot in the pack, or not as full. Maybe that would help him... so, he journeyed to the place he could ask them.

Bronco returned as the sun was rising and soon noticed Cho-Lynn emerge from her den and spot him. He looking over and greeted her with a smile, she returning the joyful greeting. Then the two sat together in near silence and watched the pack slowly come to life.

Lucky slowly came back into consciousness as sleep left him. He was rolled onto his back, legs sprawled and curled in, cheeks falling into his eyes, tail curled even more somehow, and head shoved against the wall. He heard the other two shamans stirring, the newer and older of all three of them being the first to actually rise and do something productive - which consisted of sortig the herbs how he wanted after Lucky and Chaser had organized it how they agreed upon. It took a long time to even come to an agreement... and now Bryan was going to mess it all up! It was so hard having so many shamans. Sure, it brought in more herbs, but it was so strenuous to even agree on anything. Hopefully they didn’t need to fight over anything related to actually doing their jobs! Lucky rolled over as he was awake enough to do so and looked at Bryan who was almost done sorting. The youngster hung his head and sighed deeply. When Chaser woke up they would come to an agreement on this before even leaving the den!!! Lucky silently swore it. Now, he just waited for Chaser to get up so all three of them could chat and actually agree on something.

Summer called a meeting. All of the dogs sat and listened. "Today is a great day. As you may know, there are a few dogs that have joined our kennel recently. Also, our younger dogs have come to the age where they will take their place in our kennel. Can I have Clover, Maxie and Rocco step up?" The three siblings eagerly take a step forward. Clover wags her tail uncontrollably. "Clover, you have proven that patience really pays off. Even though you were asked to stay behind in camp many times while Dimitri was doing his services to the kennel, you have caught up to your siblings. I am proud of you for showing dedication and hard work in these last few months of training. Maxie, you have excelled through training and have proven yourself more than ready to take your place as an irontooth in our kennel. Your wits and strength are your greatest weapons. I am happy to test you in your skills. Rocco, there has been a change of plans for you." Rocco's heart sank. He was not expecting this. "As you know, another shaman has come to our kennel. I have spoken to the ancestors and they think that because of Nikita's experience, she would do better as the second shaman of the Swinging Blades. But don't look so scared because you will also be tested to become and irontooth. Nikita is now the second shaman. Congrats Nikita." There were barks of approval. "Tenderpaws, your test will be next week, so you should rest up and practice all you can. Meeting adjourned."
Lekkar walks up to Summer after the meeting. "Why is Rocco becoming an irontooth? Did I train him all for nothing!?"
"Lekkar, I talked to the ancestors about this. They answered that Nikita would make a better shaman. And what's better, you don't have to train her. She already knows everything about being a shaman."
"But that's what I've been training Rocco to do these last few months. The pup has really improved his skills. We know nothing about Nikita."
"Nikita was sent to a kennel to become their shaman. That kennel may have been us. If the ancestors guided her to us then she must be a great shaman. Also, you must have noticed that Rocco didn't really 'feel' like a shaman. He has always been just a bit slow at learning your teachings."
"Yeah, but he is just a tenderpaw. They are always getting distracted."
"My answer is final, Lekkar." Summer says as she walks away.
Rocco bounds up to his mom. "Mom, I'm going to become an irontooth!"
"I heard. You must be excited."
"I am. I've always wanted to be an irontooth. But I'm nervous. I don't know how to hunt or fight."
Gracie replied "I bet I know an old dog who would be willing to teach you what you need to know for the test. Go ask Kota for help."
"Alright," Rocco ran off and asked Kota to teach him. Kota agreed happily.

The day of the test had come. The three pups took the test one-by-one. As each dog took the test and used all of their skills to find the other members of the kennel, each passed. Rocco used the technique that Kota had taught him about moving with the grass and jumping out of reach to pass his test. Summer congratulated the three former tenderpaws and they became ironteeth.

Lily stood out in the sunlight, enjoying the warmth of the sun touching her fur. Six months in the nursery was a wonderful yet somewhat boring experience. But she was now able to return to her regular Ironteeth duties. Her pups were all Tenderpaws now, and they've been given wonderful and trustworthy mentors. She couldn't have been prouder of her four pups. Everything in the pack was calm until Eloise, who had gone out to do a border patrol by herself, burst into camp with two small dogs trailing behind. One was a pup, curiously sniffing around the camp. The second was an adult, but almost half Lily's size and only a bit bigger than the pup. It had been a while since Lily had seen a small dog breed, and couldn't help but crack a smile at them. There had been dogs in Falling Leaves who had struggle with accepting new dogs. Now a new dog like this will definitely test them quite a bit. Her mind mused. But I'm sure my pups with quickly accept this new dog as a pack mate.

"Good luck." Gabriel whispered to her apprentice, which was now going with Bullet to become a proper Irontooth. Gabriel couldn't have been prouder of her apprentice. Michelle was a quick learner, and a fierce longing to protect her pack. She would be an exceptional Irontooth, going on patrols with Gabriel and defending the pack. "Thank you. Thank you for everything you have done, Gabriel. I am forever grateful." Michelle barked softly. "You were a great mentor and you've trained me to be a strong dog." Gabriel could feel her body shaking with delight. "I have trained a dog well. Thank you for being my first apprentice, and you're always welcome to talk to me about tips about being an Irontooth!" Gabriel barked, giving her former apprentice a laugh. Michelle smiled. "Of course."

After Falcon's whole admittance about his bitter feelings towards the pack, Raj had felt guilty. He'd been wanting to make it up by going hunting by himself. And maybe right now would be a good time to go hunt. After all, Bullet wasn't here but once he returned, Raj would surprise him with a juicy squirrel or two! Raj eyed the dense forest around the camp, and decided to go. He trotted off, hoping to bring back something to surprise his Alpha and prove him worthy.
