She learnt how to hunt from her uncle and to how to fish from her father whilst her mother taught her to cook and sew. Being an only child with mainly male influences, she tended to act too much like a boy for the liking of the town and eventually she left so that her family wasn't affect by her choices socially. Now she works as a mercenary, moving from location to location in search of work, though she sometimes has to pretend to be male.

He was allowed to live, however, so long as he joined them and eventually he rose through the ranks until he became the first mate.
