Appearance: Valentine is a black tom with pale green eyes of roughly average build. The fur along his back, sides, tail, and a small area on the front of his muzzle have been bleached by the sun turning them a reddish-brown color (a process known as rusting)

Personality: Valentine is an independent tom who happens to be a bit too trusting. He often tries to seem mature around strangers which may make it seem like he is some kind of stick in the mud but around someone he feels close enough to, his not so well hidden goofy, playful side really comes out. He cannot stand liars and will never lie himself unless he feels like it is absolutely necessary to protect someone. He isn’t always the smartest cat around which could leave him easily fooled by others and also lead to him not always making the best decisions at times. He is rather soft hearted by nature and can’t help but lend someone a paw if he sees they need it. Unless he knows they are a clan member. Towards clan cats he always acts aggressively as he assumes they intend to hurt or trick him but because he cannot smell he relies on the honesty of others to tell him they are part of the clan. If they lie or just fail to mention where they live he would act fairly friendly towards them just as he does towards other loners. He is courageous when he needs to be but usually not overly reckless unless he feels like his daughter is at risk of being harmed. He places his daughter above all else as he feels family is a very important thing. Even though he can be overprotective of her, Esmeralda certainly has him wrapped around her little paw. When she is upset he is upset and so he will often try to do just about anything in his power to make her happy at all times.

History: Valentine was born as part of an eight kitten litter being solely raised by their mother, a she-cat named Esmeralda. She struggled to keep the large litter fed and protected but they always managed to get by somehow. He chose to stay with her instead of leaving as all his siblings did when they grew older but at twelve moons old she died, leaving him alone. Shortly after that he met Orchidface, a beautiful grey and white she-cat. Even though she had to be at least twice his age, it was love at first sight for Valentine. She told him terrible things about the clan, lies leaving him to believe they were nothing but bloodthirsty, cruel cats. The two only met up for about a week before they were mates. One day she suddenly insisted he had to move on and stop coming around the territory. Eventually she revealed she was pregnant and said the clan would kill all of them if they figured out he was the father. More lies were told as to why he couldn’t join the clan and she couldn’t leave but eventually he managed to convince her to have the kits outside the territory so that he could be involved in their lives and she could still be a member of the clan. They chose an abandoned badger’s den a short distance away from clan territory and there she gave birth to five healthy kits. None of the kits shared his black pelt and in fact it was the single female kitten that looked anything like either of them. She was almost like an exact copy of her mother, appearance wise. Orchidface told him to name the kits and so he did, choosing to name their daughter after his mother. Valentine did his best to keep them warm and safe during her absences but his mate visited so infrequently that eventually all four of their sons died to starvation. As soon as their last remaining kit turned one moon old, Orchidface revealed the truth. She had many loner and kittypet mates including Valentine and any one of them could have been the father of the kits. She blamed him for ruining her plan to have these kittens in the clan to bring in her outsider blood by refusing to leave when she told him to. She didn’t want to allow him to join the clan because that would mean the clan would know she had taken an outsider as a mate. Valentine soon chased her away from the den and never saw her again. A few days later, Orchidface’s body was found by a ThornClan patrol near the border after she had been killed by a different loner mate of her’s but Valentine does not know she is dead. He still lives in that same badger den with his daughter and tries to do his best to avoid interacting with the clan in any way.
Additional Information: He was born without a sense of smell so he mostly fishes for food instead of hunting land animals
