there was a time when our home was plentiful and perfect. we were a pack of many, thriving in our beloved mountainous home. our alpha was kind and fair, the perfect leader. prey was plentiful and we had nothing to worry about...

"come on, youngsters! race you to the river!" the young wolves bolted out of camp, all rising to the challenge of the race. the challenge was given by the alpha, a kind soul who took care of his pack and enjoyed the small things in life. here in the mountain valley, there was nothing to worry us. as the alpha led the young wolves out of camp, his mate chuckled. she then turned to her hunters and prepared to send out a patrol. there had been a herd of elk spotted grazing near the edge of the valley, and the pack hunters were going out to bring down a few of them. the alpha female was going with them, as it would take at least two days to get to the herd, and two days to return. she was also the strongest hunter the pack had, having been lead hunter before becoming alphess. one half of the alpha pair was always with the pack at camp, while the other went on expeditions to other parts of the territory whenever it was needed. It was a normal occurrence here, in the Great Valley Pack.

a day before the hunters and the alpha female were supposed to arrive back at the pack camp,
the pack healer had a dream...

"beloved healer, you shall wake upon the end of this dream. when you wake, take your
knowledge to the alpha. we come to tell you that something has gone wrong in the return of
the alpha's mate and her hunters. there has been a rockslide, trapping and injuring several
members of the pack. if they are not found by winter, they will surely perish. some may not
even have that long. they are in the southern caves...now go!"

so, essentially, this is a wolf rescue mission/survival roleplay. while they used to have the perfect pack and nothing threatening them, a rockslide and cave-in caused part of the pack to become trapped in a system of caves in the southern part of the territory. it would usually be a day's trek, but because of the massive rockslide and cave-in, the land has become more dangerous and it now will take much longer to navigate the land safely, with the entire pack. the wolves that are trapped do have food, as they have the elk carcasses that they were supposed to bring home to the pack. but, they are injured, some worse than others, and can not get out. the pack healer has a dream sent to them by the ancestors, in which they find out about their trapped packmates. upon finding out about the dream, the alpha male decides they must act at once. it is september, and they have until december to find and rescue their lost packmates. they must get to the caves, and navigate them to find where the injured wolves have made a temporary camp.
