XXXXXXXThe GameXXXXXXX

In a lot of ways, life is a game. A Kingdom, torn in half, plagued in secrets and ripe for scandal. This is the height of the Medieval Era. It's been three days since the passing of King Henry; the perfect catalyst to the war that's been brewing for centuries between two families. Alas, such battles are veiled with smiles and charm as two warring families fight for the top. Life has become the game of Chess, Nobles so very much adore as they battle it out with wits rather than weapons. But what happens behind closed doors; beneath the finely crafted masks of perfect charm and amity? Blood has been spilt from either side, but the passing of their King was the final straw and the beginning of a war.

Bad Blood upon civil hands. The two Prominent and powerful families in all of England, the Clans of Tariel and Van Buren have existed as long as the Empire. Closely related to the Royal line, both families have played into the line of succession from the dawn of history. But with great power arises dark secrets that may not always be so easy to contain. Scandal, bribery, even murder, lurks behind closed doors.

XXXXXXXVan BurenXXXXXXX
The Van Buren clan has been around
almost as long as the Tariel and are a
family known for their strength and their
heart. Known for their vibrant red hair
and soft grey eyes, they are sight to
behold and a force almost as dangerous
as their rivals. With a direct tie into
the royal bloodline, they hope to claim the
throne through their eldest son.

The Patriarch; The Black King
Stubborn as an ox, with the heart
of a Lion. ___ Leads his family with
pride in every step. It's rumored that
___ was born a lowly farmhand and
married into the clan many years ago
in secret before rising to the top.

The Matriarch; The Black Queen
The second cousin to the late King,
she married for love, much to her
family's disdain. ___ is as strong as
her husband and the heart of the
family.

The Scholar; The Black Bishop
Where his brothers became
athletes and warriors, ____
became a scholar. Manipulative
and brutally ambitious, he's the
brain of the family and rumoured
to be the long, lost, son of the
Tariel clan.

The Socialite; The Black Knight
___ and ___, set of twins, they are
the youngest of the family and have
their fingers in everyone's pie. If there's
a rumour to be heard, they're probably
the ones that spread it.

The Protector; The Black Rook
___ ,the eldest, a headstrong
young man is always ready for a fight.
He's incredibly protective of his family
and would like nothing more than to stop
all the fighting between clans. Recently,
he's become engaged to the youngest of
the Tariel clan after falling in love with
her at a masque.

XXXXXXXTarielXXXXXXX
The Tariel clan all share a very distinctive
beauty among their ranks. Pale skin, iridescent
eyes and long white-blond hair, they are
winter-personified. Brutally ambitious and
stained with greed, they will stop at nothing to
claim the throne. Their family crest is colored
in blues, purples and silver, displaying a white
serpent coiled around a longsword to represent
nobility and power.

The Patriarch; The White King
With a heart of ice and a lust for
blood, ____ is the brawn of the family.
He'll easily kill all who oppose him to
clear the path for the throne, or simply
for the fun of it. Unlike his wife, he
cares very little of shielding his
intentions. He is the nephew of the
late King.

The Matriarch; The White Queen
The brain behind the brawn, Erudessa is
both beautiful and intelligent. Equally as
brutally ambitious as her husband, she
often plays as the kinder side of the couple.
Soft-spoken and fragile, she is often
over-looked. All to her advantage.

~Played by Lady Grifter

The Trickster; The White Bishop
The spitting image of her father, ____
has absolutely no regard for those she
must step upon in her rise to power.
Hot-headed and short-tempered, she's
a force to be reckoned with.

The Puppet; The White Knight
The youngest of her family, reserved has
fallen tragically in love with the eldest
son of the Van Buren clan, much to her
family's amusement. Now engaged, she's
blissfully oblivious to her family's intentions.

The Black sheep; The White Rook
The outcast of the family, ____
does not share his family's distinctive
beauty, nor their callous ambition.
Tall, dark and shy, ___ is often assumed
to be adopted rather than birthed into the
noble bloodline.

Rules of the Game

Postby Lady Grifter » Mon Oct 07, 2013 7:22 am

XXXXXXXThe RulesXXXXXXX
I'm fairly lenient, to be truthful; there are only a few things I require of you.
~This is semi-literate, meaning that I want at least one strong paragraph per character, per post of eight sentences. It isn't that hard and you shouldn't have more than one character if you can't handle it.
~This is LGBTQ friendly, and various sexual orientations are encouraged among characters. Given the Era, it adds for more scandals and drama.
~Do not use pictures, I want you to describe your character.
~I have the right to accept of deny your character as it is my plot. But that has only happened twice in my few years of roleplaying.
~People did not wear jeans and hoodies in Medieval times. Please try to stay a little accurate.
~Star out cursing, though there are quite a few terms you may get away with on this roleplay using this: http://www.renfaire.com/Language/insults.html (Go nuts)
~Have fun, enjoy the roleplay! I don't want this to die two days after its creation!

The Lion and the Lamb

Postby Lady Grifter » Thu Oct 10, 2013 1:11 pm

Name: Erudessa (Air-ooh-Dess-ah) Tariel (Tah-ree-ell)
Class: Noble; Matriarch of the Tariel Clan
Sexual Orientation: Closeted Bisexual

A wolf in sheep's clothing.
Soft-spoken and graceful, Erudessa is the picture of innocence upon first inspection. Born into a family of high nobility, she learnt quickly to shield her true thoughts from the scrutiny of others and rarely allows her innermost desires to show through to the world around her. She holds herself as a Queen whilst giving the appearance of a porcelain doll, beautiful and fragile. She is known to speak so softly that one would have to lean in to hear her, inevitably creating an intimacy to the conversation that was not formerly there. But this is far from the truth of what lies behind the soft smiles and oblivious nature of Lady Tariel. Intelligent and resourceful, she often manipulates from the shadows with chiding words and barbed wit with an uncommon advantage: an education. Erudessa learnt from an early age to read through the Church, of whom her family had intended she join after no successful engagements. Alas, Erudessa refused to believe her path ended in the uneventful lands of her family's fief. She soon rose to power under the guise of a lady in waiting to the future Queen.

Brutal and ambitious, she cares very little for those crushed in her path to success. Neither the youngest, nor the oldest of her three siblings, being seen rather than heard was a talent Erudessa had perfected at a young age. Slim and petite in figure, she was blessed with the unique beauty that distinguished her family from the other nobles of the King's court. Long blonde hair, straight as straw and white as snow framed a soft heart-shaped face, colored as pale as fine marble, with iridescent eyes of violet and blue; her father's knight's often described her as winter personified. She often dressed in fine gowns of white, lavender and pale blues as a continuance into the theme of her wintery palette, adorning jewels on silver strings of chain around her thin neck and in her hair. She became well aware of her unique and distinctive beauty in her later years, often using it to her advantage, whilst playing oblivious to it all.

Name: Marcus Schade
Class: Knight; Head of the Royal Guard
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

The Lover and a Fighter.
The eldest of his seven siblings, the Schade Clan has been loyal to the Royal bloodline for generations. As head of the Royal Guard` Marcus feels an especially strong bond with the family. He was once married, nearly ten years ago, alas a plague had taken the life of his late wife Arwen, their unborn child with her. In the years that followed, he completely devoted his life to his work, protecting the King of England. In his passing, Marcus was at his side and the first to mourn him. Now he has devoted himself to the King's Daughter, a frail and beautiful creature, far too innocent for the ruthless mind games of the royal court. Tall and burly, he isn't the most attractive of men, but has an outdoorsy charm to him. Vibrant red hair is cropped short and paired with deep amber eyes. He wears the guard armor with pride and walks with a certain power to his gait. There are very few things in this world that would stand between him and fighting for what he cares for.

Kind and strong-headed, Marcus prefers to listen rather than speak. As viscous as he may appear in battle, he's actually quite gentle in nature. He holds no quarrels with anyone and often enjoys the company of both families. A good man and a hard worker, Marcus is a loyal friend and a formidable enemy in battle.
