Our master is dead. From now on, you owe allegiance to no one but yourselves. My friends, we are disavowed.

During the long, dark period
of the Great Wars, an elite class of soldier
rose from battle, each carrying an enchanted weapon.
Their unbreakable code was simple...
possess a noble heart of courage,
right conduct, and absolute devotion to one's master.
From out of those years of bloodshed, an empire would emerge.
Its power would assimilate persons of every color,
creed, and faith.
This uncontested rule eroded the traditions of the great knights, but not for all.
The master of the knights, Lord Bartok, was an honorable man who actively fought against injustice and corruption. He and his wife were fair rulers of the Bartok lands, but were unable to produce an heir. One day, a messenger from one of the emperor's ministers summoned Lord Bartok and all of his knights to the capital. Corrupt and selfish, the minister was insulted when Lord Bartok refused to hand over a bribe. This led to the minister attacking the lord, luring him into drawing his blade. Attacking a minister of the emperor is treason, so Lord Bartok was taken to trial, where the emperor himself passed judgement.
Lord Bartok confessed, stating that his only crime was failing to kill the corrupt minister. The emperor and the minister both saw fit that the lord be executed, however the minister suggested that he be executed by his own commander, who Bartok considered his spiritual heir. The knights returned to their land after the whole ordeal. Having no one to take Lord Bartok's place, their territories were seized by the empire, and all who lived within them were exiled. The knights all traveled to the capital.
A year has passed since then, and the knights have seemingly moved on with their lives. But under the surface, they've been planning their revenge, waiting for the moment that they are able to strike and restore their master's name to honor.

Honor is something that all men are born with. It cannot be taken from you, nor can it be granted. It must only not be lost. We now stand at the door of our final great act. Our enemy shall bear witness to to the unbreakable code of the Seventh Rank. We will reclaim what they tried to take. We will restore the name of our master, the voice of our people, and the spirit of our nation. We have planned. We have sacrificed. We have waited. And now...
It is time.
