Branchpaw was sleeping in the medicine den, tail curled around her pale pink nose. All of the peace and comfort the found in the slumber was then immediately poured down the drain when a loud crash awoke her. The tabby apprentice woke up with a start, banging her head against the stone walls of the medicine den, sending more herbs flying down to the ground. "Stupid-!" she hissed, sinking her claws into a crack in the stone floor; tearing at the soft earth nestled between the rocks. Head pounding, Branchpaw spun around to see what was the cause of the noise, and found a tumble of rocks settled in a corner of the den.

Sibilating, the tabby swept up the fallen herbs and sorted the according to their type. Peering out of the den, Branchpaw's brown gaze came to rest on her mentor, Leafshadow, leaving with another warrior. Scowling, the medicine apprentice watched as her mentor left without a single thought of bringing the apprentice. Calm down, she spat to herself, turning back around to clean up her mess. Stop being such a jerk and get this den neat again. Sorting out the fallen herbs calmed the she-cat down, as medicine work always did. Finally feeling content after the den had been made clean again, she headed outside, hunger gnawing at her belly.

Immediately, her hunger died away and way replaced with a tightness in her stomach as she spotted Leaftail, the deputy. Heart fluttering, she veered sharply away from the fresh-kill pile and unconsciously let her paws drag her towards the gray she-cat. Grinning like a fool, the moony apprentice padded towards the jade-eyed deputy, staggering as she payed no attention to her paws. "H-hi, Leaftail," she breathed, star-struck as she tried to grab the deputy's attention. Branchpaw, you halfwit! she scolded herself, shaking her tabby head to clear her thoughts. First of all, she's a warrior and you're an apprentice. Not just any warrior, though, the deputy! And you're a medicine apprentice! Plus, you're both she-cats. What are you, a mouse-brain?
