Brightpaw yawned, blinking her clear blue eyes open. She squinted and was able to make out the faint outline of Patchpaw in the dim light. She stood up and silently padded out of the den, being careful not to tread on his tail, and walked to the fresh-kill pile. She sifted through until she found a mouse and pulled it out. She started eating it quietly, watching the sunrise.
