"You should stay here," Malia said suddenly. "Your father was drunk, maybe when he's sober he'll change his mind. He's your family, he can't stay mad at you forever. This is your home and your family is here. You can wait it out, and I'm sure Jeremiah will rethink his decision. I'm fine going on my own. I feel like he'd have a harder time forgiving someone he doesn't share a bond with." Malia knew that family was everything. If Troy left, he'd be losing a big part of him.

"But it's not safe for you to go off on your own." Troy responded, letting go of Jake. "Besides, you don't know my father. He most definitely can stay mad at me forever.
Jake looked at Troy with pleading eyes. "Malia's right. Troy, please, stay."
"I...I..." Troy started, he was torn between two things and he didn't know what to do.

Malia saw Troy hesitate and saw her chance. "Troy, you can stay. I'll be fine on my own. I was doing alright before I met you. Besides, your people need you here," she told him. "And your father will forgive you eventually. This all wasn't even your fault. I saw him when you got shot. He was so worried for you. He doesn't want you gone, and certainly not dead. He'll realize that when he calms down. This is you home, and your family is here. And family is everything."

"Hell, this is going to sound crazy, but you're like family to me." Troy said, shaking his head. "I can't have you go out there especially with the Proctors looking for you, trying to hunt you down. I just can't do it." He sighed, looking down at the floor.

"No, Troy. Don't leave the ranch. Stay here," she told him. As much as she didn't want to part from him, she knew that it wasn't fair to be selfish. Troy needed to stay here, with his family. This was his home. "I'll be fine out there. The Proctors won't find me. Stay here. This is your home, and your true family is here. Don't throw all that away." Malia held her hand out for the keys of the vehicle. "Don't make a decision that you'll regret."

[Light Bringer]

Troy sighed and fell silent for a moment more. "I'm going to regret whatever decision I make." He said, shaking his head and sighing once more, looking hopelessly at Malia.

Malia met his gaze. "Stay here," she told him. It was breaking her heart to do this, but she knew it was for the best. She hated to part from him, but he needed to stay what his family. She tried not to show it though, but she always heard that the eyes never lie. She hoped that this wasn't true. Malia wiggled her hand for the keys.

Troy reached into his pocket and fished out the keys before handing them to Malia. He also, pulled out a handgun and offered it to her. "At least take this so you'll be safer." He said.

Malia took the keys, her chest tightening with heart break. She was glad that he choose to stay here, in a way, since that's what she wanted for him.
Malia shook her head. "It'll be no use for me. I don't know how to use it," she told him.
Then she hugged him, wrapping her arms around him tightly and resting her head on his shoulder. She didn't want to leave, didn't want to part from him, didn't want him to stay. But it was for the best. Selfishness wouldn't get her anywhere. At least, that's what she tried to tell herself, as she kept herself from shedding tears.

"This won't be the last time we see each other." Troy said, trying to convince both Malia and himself as he held her in a tight hug. "I'll try to make my dad reconsider. And, if he does, I'll come and find you. Okay?" He asked, hopefully.
