Shadow's heart swelled with sadness, watching Timber like this. She tried to lick his ear in comfort, but her throat seemed to swell in her mouth, choking her. She wanted to say I'm sorry, but what good would that do? "River will be here... Go back to sleep, and she'll be waiting for you in the morning," she whispered softly to him, her honey and spring scent seemed to mingle with Timber's musky own. It nearly made her gag. Shadow stumbled to her paws and out of the den and into the rain, gladly letting her hot dry pelt be cooled off by the falling water. The fae sat down in the middle of camp, lifting her nose to the dark sky, enjoying the feeling of rain spattering on her face.
