we are constantly surrounded by what we’re told love
should be. passionate, thrilling, epic. but as we know
all too well, not all love is like that. it’s about the little
things, the things we don’t realise are important. whether
it’s talking until the sun comes up, sitting in silence just
enjoying the other’s presence or even simply seeing the
one you love happy. without these little things, how
can a relationship prosper?

you all graduated high school a few years ago.
the “golden age” of high school is long behind you
and reality has truly set in. life on your own
isn’t easy, but you all have that one person who makes it
bearable. whether they’re a friend or something more, you
don’t know how you’d make it without them. you're old
group of friends have arranged a trip, a way to relive
the glory days and rekindle any friendships or romances
that may have survived the years. and so off you go to
hawaii, the ultimate beach escape, a chance to reunite
and reminisce on the good old days.

This fiery young lady always manages to get herself into nasty
situations. Backing down just isn't in her nature and she always
seems to have some conflict in her life. Despite this, when you're
around her there's never a dull moment and her fun (if somewhat
frightening) nature is hard to resist.

The artist doesn't say much, but when she does everyone stops to
listen. Her creativity is matched by no one, her ideas are
so incredible that no one can help being drawn in. She is
a positive, calming soul who only needs to find the
confidence to flaunt her talent.

played by: velvet melodies.

You need this girl on your side. She is the one who will
never leave you, her loyalty can last through rain and shine,
she is has a beautiful spirit and is constantly nurturing and
looking out for her friends, but soon she'll have to start putting
herself first.

played by: pumpkin queen.

This is the girl who loves everything gorgeous. Appearances
mean a lot to her, which may be shallow, but it's who
she is. She is glamorous and dramatic to no end and loves
giving her friends fashion advice at every opportunity.

And last but certainly not least, the definition of a hot mess.
This girl has been faking her way through life since graduation
and it's all starting to catch up to her. She may be somewhat
ditzy and disorganised, but she has a heart of gold that she
might just have to sacrifice to keep her life together.

This young man's intelligence is matched by almost no one.
He seems to know every fact under the sun and doesn't
hesitate to show off his smarts. He can be a pain with
his never-ending smart ass comments and know-it-all
demeanour, but he's amiable enough that they put up
with him, some more than others.

played by: mary jane.

If you've had a bad day and are in need of a laugh,
this guy's the one to go to. He could fall under a range of
labels: flirt, prankster, tease; but at the end of the day he
loves making people laugh and spreading happiness.
But it's not all fun and games behind the mask he puts up.

You won't find a quieter, sweeter guy than the wallflower.
He is uncomfortable in almost all group situations, but
get him on his own and he is not only engaging, but gentle
and patient. He needs someone to show him it's okay to put
himself out there and let his soft personality be known.

This guy spells trouble. From the moment you meet him
you know it isn't going to be an easy ride. He is always
out doing crazy things, not caring who may get hurt in
the process. Underneath the seemingly insane, careless
façade is a young boy who was hurt almost beyond repair.

And finally, the different one. He doesn't really
seem to fit in with the group and from the outside,
no one can seem to figure out how he got there in the
first place. He says things they don't understand, does
things that seem weird, but the group wouldn't be
the same without him.

This is a relationship no one ever expected.
She is wild and loves living life on the edge, whereas
he still doesn't really know his place not only in the
group, but in general. She helps him find his way, while
he shows her that there's more to life than stirring up
trouble and living each day like it's the last.

In high school they never spoke to each other in front
of other people for fear of pressure being placed on their
friendship, but were always there for one another. She had
the guts to ask him out once, on their last day of senior year,
resulting in his rejection. However hard it may have been for
him to lose her, he wasn't ready to take the next step but
now regrets ever turning her down. His hope for this trip
is that he can not only apologise for hurting her all those
years ago, but perhaps even find their way back to each
other, as friends at the very least.




These two are constantly arguing, debating, bantering,
whatever you want to call it. She thinks him immature and
childish while he finds her stuck up and shallow. They
always seem to have some disagreement or another, but they're
always smiling and laughing when they're together. Everyone
can see they'd be great with each other, but they both
continue to deny the connection they share.

In high school, these two were the best of friends. Despite
each claiming to despise the other, they were always with
each other, spending whatever time they could together.
For the whole four years of high school, the two were
crushing on each other hardcore, but both way too
terrified to admit it. Perhaps now they've grown up a
bit they can finally confess the truth to one another.






This couple just look like they're meant to be. She is
nurturing and loving, always putting her own needs
last, while he has to be the best and loves showing off.
They are almost complete opposites, but they need each
other. He needs her to keep him grounded, remind him
of who he is and that people around him need him. She
needs him to show her that it's okay to put yourself first
and that other people can in fact cope without her.

In high school, these two never seemed to connect. He
admired her from afar, attracted by her open heart and
caring nature. But being the person he was, he thought
she was beneath him and his ego got in the way of him
ever approaching her. In all honesty, she never really
noticed him as anything more than a friend, on this
trip he hopes to catch her eye and is willing to do
anything he can to work his way into her heart.







You may have thought the previous couple were opposites,
but these two are polar opposites. She is soft-spoken
and wary, but he is spontaneous, nearly out of control.
She doesn't have the confidence to share her ideas
with the world and needs someone with that touch
of recklessness to bring out her true colours. Conversely,
he is in need of someone to tame his impulsivity and
show him that being in the spotlight isn't the only
thing there is.

In high school, the artist never really let anyone see
her artworks. She was extremely protective of them
and none of her friends ever really knew why. It was
because one of them was her muse. She was embarrassed
by her feelings for the wild because she was certain
he would never feel anything for her. So she poured
all her feelings into her art, never allowing anyone to
see into her soul. Despite this, he always admired her,
her quiet confidence that never needed validation. On
this trip, she hopes to admit her feelings all those years
ago with the hopes he returns them. Despite her claims
to herself that she's over it, she isn't at all and has kind
of been pining over him all this time. While he has thought
about her, it's nothing compared to her devotion to him,
but this trip could change everything.




And lastly, these two. She can feel herself
spiralling and knows that soon she's not going to
be able to bring herself back from the brink. He is
the person she needs to regain control and realise
that she's more capable than she thinks. He needs
her slight craziness to bring him out of his shell and
teach him to not fear pain or heartbreak anymore.

In high school these two shared a very special bond.
It wasn't really what you'd call friendship, but they
just seemed to understand each other. She always
felt that it could become something amazing, but
knew that he wasn't ready to completely let his walls
down. She still feels the same way about him to this
day, but with her life falling apart, she doesn't want
to bring him into it. Having had time to ponder, he
realises the opportunity he missed with her and hopes
that on this trip he can tell her, no matter how hard
it may be for him to let himself be that vulnerable.

➢ Adelle sat in the Kahului Airport, her huge suitcase laying next to her. THe young woman was drumming her fingers impatiently on the arm rest, wondering where all her friends were. Sure, she was an hour early (of course), but wouldn't they have thought to come a tad early too? Adelle had been at the airport for more than a while, she'd collected her bags, picked up their itinerary for the holiday, gotten her nails done and had time for a massage in one of those chairs that are randomly scattered about the place. Pulling a tiny, travel-sized pressed powder out of her purse, Adelle touched up her makeup for probably the hundredth time that day.

It was cool in the airport thanks to the air-con, but here in Maui it was very difficult to escape the heavy humidity that seemed to lie like a blanket over the island. Pulling out her phone, Adelle checked the time... again. 11:26, still 34 minutes before they had been told they should be here. Of course the girl expected no one to be late, but she was a stickler for punctuality. Rising from the bench,
Adelle grabbed her case and wheeled it with her into the bathroom as she studied herself in the full-length mirror that occupied one wall. She wanted to make a good impression, there was no denying that, after all she hadn't seen some of these people since graduation four years ago. Her outfit had been chosen with the utmost care, fashionable and glamorous, but at the same time casual and appropriate for the weather. She wore a fitted, turquoise cami crop top and loose denim shorts with a rolled hem. Her curly blonde hair was pulled into a ponytail, the remnants of a bad fringe from a few years ago that never seemed to stay tied back floating around her face. Her favourite tan wedges finished off her look.

Satisfied with her appearance, Adelle stalked out of the bathroom and stood waiting at their designated meeting spot, scrolling through her phone in hopes of distracting herself for the next... 28 minutes.

Rose was angry. It was usual for her to be mad, but this time, she was especially mad. Standing at the customer service booth of the airport, she glared down at the little lady at the counter. "I was placed in between a snoring man and a woman with a crying baby!" She practically yelled. She didn't care that she was being loud and everyone probably heard her. "If I wanted my flight to be hell, I would have watched a chick flick!" In the middle of flipping her hair over her shoulder, she glimpsed at a familiar blonde young woman. Completely forgetting that she was supposed to be lost in rage; she turned and walked over to Adelle. "Long time no see, partner." All Rose had packed was a worn, beat up duffle bag. From her frizzy brown hair with highlights to her knee high heeled leather boots, she looked the exact same as she did in high school.

➢ After what felt like an eternity, Adelle heard a familiar voice address her. She turned, a huge grin on her face. "Well if it isn't Miss Rose Diego," she said before throwing her arms around her friend. It was incredible to see that Rose hadn't changed one bit, from the crazy brown hair to the always slightly grumpy look in her eye. "I've missed you so much," Adelle gushed. It was true, while she loved New York and was having the time of her life, she missed having familiar faces to wake up to everyday. "You have to catch me up, tell me everything you've been doing!" While the question was directed to Rose, Adelle couldn't wait to tell her best friend how well she'd been doing for herself since high school. The young woman wasn't one to brag... okay that was a lie, but she tried to tone it down around people she actually liked.
