Brooke awoke to trickles of light falling on her face. She rolled over, tucking the covers over her head, stretching her legs out underneath the sheets. She let out a long, shaky sigh, as a lone bird tweeted outside. It chirped, squawking to another bird, as the other bird chirped back. Brooke heard footsteps walk down the hall, and shuffle into her room. Brooke's dog Max walked to her bed, licking her toes that peeped out of the covers. Brooke giggled, pulling them off. His docked tail wagged, as he woofed quietly, as she sat up. She gave him a pat, before walking to the kitchen.
