Are we supposed to get a litter, or just the one. The text suggests that we get a litter but I've only ever gotton one puppy from them at a time.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but here goes! You can only adopt one at a time, and you're only allowed to adopt 15 puppies. If you get a litter or not depends on the probabilities ^-^

I believe what is in question is this:

There are multiple newborns from each pairing - usually about 2 - 5 babies in a 'litter'

This just means that there are 2-5 different colour variations of babies that you can get from the 2nd gens. You adopt one at a time but you can see the colour differences from the newborn stage so you know when you've got them all.
