virus on the site?

My little si has a friend who goes on CS, but last time she went, a message popped up saying it had a virus.

Then her computer crashed. I'm really hoping that it wasn't one of the scam viruses, like when it's says something has a virus, and asks you to download protection stuff, then hacks into your computer.

could it have something to do with CS?

Sounds like she just has spyware on her computer. Spyware pops up adverts at random times. If she has no spyware or antivirus protection installed and up to date, she should install Microsoft's new free Defender antivirus:
