Please keep in mind that staff pet values are drastically different!
You can't say every staff pet is worth rares or more, because recent staff pets are just commons.
Most of the time they share the value of any other pet with the same rarity of the year they were released. Maybe a bit more due to them being a "special" litter and quite often have heavy lineart edits.
And just because some people overpay drastically for a certain pet, it isn't exactly worth that amount.
You should always double-check with the FTT (fair trade thread, or "Is this a fair trade?" thread) or the "How much is this pet worth?" thread.
