To bump posts, (which is what I think you mean), you can either quote your own post and push 'submit' to put it as a new post, or you can simply say 'bump'!

There is also a bump button at the bottom of the page (next to the bookmark button) of a thread if the last post was made by you and a certain time has passed (can't remember how much though...)

If an eight hour time period passes without any posts, you have the option to bump your topic; I believe if a message gets deleted, it will restart the time.
