oekaki lock alpha

Postby greyheartdarkness » Fri Jun 23, 2017 11:53 am

okay, how do you do lock alpha? i looked it up on the oekaki tutorial, yet this doesn't work? Okay so I have a color and a lines layer and what it says to do was click lock alpha and be on the color layer, then color with what you want, but when I do this, nothing happens? What am I doing wrong? I've looked up several videos on how to do this but it still does the same thing.

Can you link me the lines? I may be able to help if you do.

I'm assuming that you're doing the lines, then making a colour layer, clicking lock alpha and then trying to colour. As much as I would love for it to be that simple, it's not.

Let's say you have a circle and you want to make a pattern on it without going outside of the lines. You would colour it in as one colour, click lock alpha, and then add the pattern. If you don't already have colours down, it won't work.

Does that make sense? (Probably not, I'm bad at phrasing things.)

There already has to be color there to use lock-alpha. Lock-alpha allows you to only color what is already there, so you would have to color it neatly, staying inside the lines by yourself first and then turn on lock alpha and you can be more messy without going out of them.
