A "View in Archive" Button (Picture included!)

Postby Umbrellas » Wed Sep 19, 2012 1:59 pm

So you are in a trade, deciding whether to accept it. One of the pets the other person is offering is a rerelease, but you don't know what month or year it's from. Now you have to search through the archives in vain, trying to find this pet. Great.

But this could be easily fixed! I suggest that on each pet's profile, we add a button - "View this pet in the archives," with a link to the page on which the pet is found. This will help with rereleases especially, but also an easy way to find what litters pets come from, etc.

Don't understand what I mean?

Here's a picture to show you what I'm suggesting ^^

(it's a bit too big, link to full pic)

I think this would be really helpful to everyone who is trading rereleases - and it will help stop the confusion of getting scammed out of pets who are of more value than you might think.

When you view a pet, you see the date it was adopted. If you really wanted to see it in the archive, you can just look up the month and year it was released.

But what about rereleased pets from Dec 18th? They show Dec 18th from the year they were adopted, like Dec 18th 2011 but it's a sunback, but a newbie might not understand rerelease, or even for me I don't always remember what year a random dog or rat is from.

yes please yes please YES PLEASE! Would be awesome for rereleases. I often see people ask "What's this pet worth? I can't find it in the archives! It was adopted in December 2011, please help, I could find it in any of 2011" or "I think this pet is in the wrong place; it's from December 2010 but is under July 2008 for some reason???"
Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.

Like others have said, pets rereleased on December 18th (with a different adopted date than their actual one) make it much harder to find out their year and date, as you have to search through 2008, 2009, and 2010 to find it, if you're unsure of when it was adopted.

It's a great idea - I support. ^^
Mainly because I'm kind of sick of seeing people ranting in the TRT about having traded say, a CE Galaxy for a bunch of 2010 rares when they joined just before the rerelease. It would help majorly with the prevention.

I think this has been suggested before, but yes it would be nice.

By extension, I'd like for when I view my wishlist that the date they were released was placed there as well. A pic of the dog and "Age 28" does not help me find it in the archive n.n

Support! I don't think I would use this a whole lot, but I could see a ton of others using it.

I'm on a bit of hiatus from art at the moment. School is working me to the bone and I have literally no time for anything. I draw as often as I can, but unfortunately it's mostly in my art classes. So don't expect anything soon. I haven't forgotten my comic.... but it will be a while.
