Special Releases?

I noticed while sorting my holiday pets and looking through the archives, there a "Special Release" tab. How can you get them? There's only a few a year but I don't remember any of 2011's or 2010's being offered.

They're usually URs, which are only released on Dec 18 (or, recently, Dec 24). The zebras are released every now and then with the regular horses and ponies, and the dragons in that tab were released every once in a while with the Malk pets, but they were discontinued for copyright issues.
