I had the same happen with the chef hat from the bar-b-que bonanza set.
I knew there was not two of them. I did not own two sets and had never traded for an extra hat.
I found it quite odd as well... well eventually it disappeared so I suppose there was no harm in it (Although if two had remained I would not have complained)
