{The Puffbird that lived}

{This puffbird is very special. But she wasn't first called this. The name "Dawn" was earned. She was first called Coal. but this is how she earned it...

At first, she was not a bright orange yellow colour. She started as the colour of black coal. Her looks were average, but her heart wasn't. She was a very kind hearted, bright minded young Puffbird. Her twin sister, Midnight, though was much prettier, didn't have a heart of gold. She had feathers the colour of the black starry night, with silver round eyes. Their parents died(sadly) and though there weren't much money left behind for the twins, they lived in the same cottage their parents left them.

One cloudless day, the two heard a rumor of a dangerous monster roaming. The price of its head was enough to feed them for weeks. They wished that they could some how kill the beast but... with their luck, they would get themselves killed, so they just prayed that the monster wouldn't come to them. But people, and Puffbirds, don't always get what they wanted. so, of course, the monster came. At night, the monster appeared! The monster was huge! With fur the colour of the moon and deep glowing eyes, and the size of a small hut! When the town saw the monster, they ran. But Coal didn't run. Though the monster looked frightening, when Coal saw the monster's eyes, she saw no evil spirit. The monster's eyes showed sadness and fear. Midnight, on the other hand, was frozen in fear, watch as the monster bend down to look at Coal.

"Your not a monster are you?" Coal said. The monster roared, scaring Midnight, but to Coal she hinted sadness, so she continued. "If... if you want a friend... I'll be your friend." Coal's eyes didn't waver at all as she contiued. "as long as you don't kill any one." Then something happened. The monster shrank. Shrank to the size a puff bird and smiled at her. And when the "monster" did. the sun rose. Making the sky glow a beautiful shade of orange. As this happened, Coal's feathers lit up. Like the sky, her feathers became the colour of the sky.

The became the best-est friends. From then on, she went of adventures with Hope. Hoping that they can help others. So if you hear "Hope at Dawn", that is them. Together.
