The young children of Kilinton Village didn’t know who or what lived in the Jay Forest. All the village of Kilinton knew was that nobody had ever come out alive. They’d seen some evidence that they went there, for example, pocketknives, baskets, and sometimes messages they were told to carry to someone.
But no one ever came out.
“I told ye’ ye shouldn’t bother! Young Jenny Mckrook was my granddaughter, wandered in and never came out! What be ye’s thinkin’ about this? Ye must know this evil ain’t gonna be overcome!” said the old grandfather named Dople Magee. “My only son went in there last week and never came out!” croaked the old grandmother named Julie Magee, as she leaned on her cane. “My big sister went in, never came out!” sobbed a young ten year old boy named Kevin Garlenia. “My smallest son, just three, had such a horrible death!” cried a woman around 30 years old named Jennie Karlen. And the saddest, a tiny little girl named Darla Minsariet had been mourning the loss of her mother, Wendy Minsariet. And not long after that, her brother, Dennis Minsariet, her older sister, Winnie Minsariet, and soon, she was gone too, but there was nobody left to mourn her. The cat death toll was high too, but not many people mourned for them. There were a few, though. “My lovely pure cat! Bred by the purest Siamese cats, given the most tender care, all that wasted after one minute, when she died under the terrible order of those dreaded elders!” cried Deanna Jarleint, a little girl who was only 9 years old. She was sent to the Jay Forest shortly afterwards too. “Fluffy, oh Fluffy, come back to me! Come back to me!” sobbed old Mrs. Winburrer.
But the village elders kept sending people in, thinking that maybe this evil could be overcome. Yet soon, the village elders and a few cats were all that was left of the once proud and bustling Kilinton Village.
“Told ye’, soon we gonna be dead too!” snapped one of the village elders, named Dilly Mangit. “Well, we gotta keep going in,” said Jinni Burrface, and she leaned on her walking stick as she slowly limped towards the Jay Forest and buried herself into the thick green leaves. Not too long afterwards, they heard an ear-splitting scream, and knew that Jinni too had been killed.
How this Jay Forest came to be in front of Kilinton was strange, the elders remembered not a single young tree growing there when they were young, and everybody knows that it takes a very long time for trees to become a forest. Soon the village elders sent cats into the Forest-they too, never came out. The last three cats ran, they hid themselves behind a wine barrel and didn’t come out. The village elders now had to pick themselves, settling by playing chess. One by one the elders were no more, until the smartest elder remained, he was full of tricks and that helped him to be the last to die. But he wasn’t smart enough to see that this type of evil could never be overcome. He wandered into the Forest, never came out.
But these three remaining cats were very clever. One was a smoky gray Persian cat, named Kara. All three cats were female. Kara was known for her cleverness and tricks, but she could easily get angry. The second was a creamy tabby cat, and her name was Jay. Jay was always angry, never resting with her complaints. The last, a shy black Bombay cat, was named Heralia. She was clever, she was smart, a good hunter and battler. She was usually very kind, but she could erupt if someone offended her.
All three cats were sisters, born into the same litter. The mother and father of these three kits had died, as far as they knew, after they wandered into the Jay Forest on the elder’s command.
All three cats knew that if they too wandered into the forest, they might never return. The three cats split up to find new forests for a habitat, for this forest clearly would not do. Kara returned with news of a forest not too far west of Kilinton Village. Jay returned with the news of a forest not too far east. And Heralia returned with news of a forest not too far north. What could they do? All three cats said the forests were lush, full of prey, and good for living. So the three friends split up to live their own lives.
Kara named her territory Thunder, for in the cat’s folklore, Thunder was full of tricks, just like she. Jay named her territory Fire, for in the cat’s folklore, Fire was easily angered and complained, always finding the negative sides of things, just like her. But shy little Heralia named her territory Water, because in the cat’s folklore, Water was always seeking wisdom, smart and wise, but could fight and hunt well, and nearly always kind, just like she.
A few months later,
“Jay! How dare you name your territory Fire! You know that Fire can kill thunder! JAY!” Kara screamed attacking Jay. “I didn’t mean to call it Fire to kill Thunder! And Heralia! How dare you named your territory water!” shouted Jay, and she too attacked Heralia. Heralia didn’t understand. “But why fight?” she sputtered. “They are only names!” Kara was angry with Jay, because Fire could kill Thunder in the cat folklore. Jay was angry with Heralia, because Water could distinguish Fire. But Heralia was not angry with anybody. She was quite confused. “Why get angry over three names? They are just to explain our personalities, just names! They are only things to call territory!” she reasoned, but it was no use. Her sisters stopped talking with each other, and they pretended they had never been sisters, they had never even known each other. But Heralia didn’t. She knew that they were sisters, related by blood, and they most certainly knew each other. But this history was lost over the years…
Mist awoke with a thud. The tiny black cat had been kicking her mother Jade, and Jade had batted her angrily in return. “Stop kicking me.” Muttered Jade. She rolled over onto her side, and then with a grunt, stood up. “Come on, Mist. Today you’re going to become a Droplet.” She mumbled, fumbling around with her fur. “Become a Droplet? I thought I had to be 9 months old for that!” Mist exclaimed, and eagerly followed her mother outside.
Mist and her mother Jade lived in Water territory, and when kits were 9 months old they became a Droplet. The leader (which was currently a blue cat named Kayla) would press her paw onto the kit’s right leg, about near her ankle, and there a small water droplet would appear. The kit was now a Droplet. After 6 months, the leader and everyone else would see if the Droplet was worthy enough to become Jaded, which meant that the leader would press her paws against the Droplet’s forehead. First nothing would happen, but slowly, there would be a crown like pattern where the leader’s paws had been. In the front of the crown like pattern, there would be a jewel that looked like Jade. Then, two days afterwards, the crown and jewel sank into the fur and was now a part of the fur. And that cat was officially Jaded.
“Yup, apparently they’re short of Droplets so they’re going to be letting kits be Droplets a bit earlier.” Replied Jade, padding into Kayla’s den.
Kayla greeted them and welcomed them warmly. But then she shook her head sadly. “Did you hear? One cat was officially Jaded, then was dancing around the dens. She danced into the Jay Forest.” Kayla frowned. Jade looked scared. “T-the Jay Forest? S-she’s dead?” whispered Jade, curling into a ball. “We’re not sure. She’s probably dead, but it’s possible she got lost. And you know why I’m telling you this?” said Kayla. “Why?” asked Jade curiously. “Because that cat was your first daughter, Genevieve.” Said Kayla, and Jade screamed. And then, Jade, fainted.
Mist was surprised too, but she wasn’t too worried. Genevieve had always been annoying, but she was sweet, occasionally. Mist didn’t care much, after all, she had never known Genevieve very well, apparently she was already going to be Jaded when Mist was born, so she moved out. Only on special occasions could Genevieve visit Mist. So as far as Mist cared, they weren’t really related at all.
“Who cares?” she muttered, unable to hold it in any longer. Kayla and Jade looked like they were both in a rage. “WE HAVE JUST LOST A LOYAL MEMBER OF WATER TERRITORY!” screamed Kayla. “THAT WAS MY DAUGHTER, THAT WAS YOUR SISTER! HOW DARE YOU HATE YOUR SISTER, SHE IS DEAD NOW! THAT WAS MY DAUGHTER AND YOUR SISTER!” screamed Jade, smacking Mist in the face. “AND TODAY YOU ARE BECOMING A DROPLET, WHAT A SHAME! THAT IS A SHAME; UNRESPECTFUL ON THE DAY YOU BECOME A DROPLET! I AM NOT EVEN SURE I WANT YOU TO BECOME A DROPLET ANYMORE!” Mist grunted, and left the den. Today Mist is living happily; she created a territory called Last Hope. This was a home for all cats that were shunted away, just like Mist. And Last Hope is the place we are going now.
Luna pounced playfully on her brother Claw. “Ouch! Don’t do that, Luna. It scares me.” Said Claw, rubbing his shoulder. “I’m getting good, aren’t I?” Luna grinned. “I hope I become a Muse soon.” The little white cat with baby blue eyes named Luna laughed playfully while the brownish yellow cat with green eyes named Claw frowned.
A Muse was what Water Territory would call Droplets. When kits were nine months old the leader would press their paw against the kit’s front right leg. There a small fur pattern of a crystal ball would appear. Six months after that they would become a Dreamer, if the Muse were worthy. If the Muse were worthy, the crystal ball would turn into mist. Now the cat was a Dreamer.
When cats were officially Muses, they were tutored on battling and hunting by a cat called the Hope Dreamer. Before that, they would be taken care of by their mother. When they were Dreamers, they would fend for their own.
Claw snorted, and Luna, the shimmering white blue-eyed cat, looked hurt. “Face it, Luna, there’s a whole 9 months until you become a Muse. You’re only just 2 weeks old.” Claw snorted. “Mommy says that it’s perfectly okay to dream.” Said Luna smugly, looking proud. “Then go and dream about being something that comes in 9 months, when you come back I’ll check your leg.” Sniggered Claw. Luna gave a “Humph!” and went. Claw smiled. Luna was so young and innocent.
Luna padded over to the small clump of green moss that had been sitting on a colorful red rock ever since Claw had knocked the clump of moss onto Luna’s face, she had squealed in disgust, threw it away, and there it landed, on the red rock. You know, I think I remember something about green moss healing wounds that the Hope Dreamer was talking about the other day… Luna thought to herself. She checked her paw. There it was. A small injury she had gotten the other day while running. Luna had tripped on a tree root and falling face forward, her paws quickly stretched out. But there were many thorns, and it was just Luna’s luck she had landed on a particularly sharp thorn. Not thinking twice about it, Luna dabbed some of the moss onto her wound. “Ow!” she cried. The moss certainly hadn’t helped the wound, it was making the wound burn red, and Luna felt like there was fire on her paw. The pain was even worse than before, and Luna’s eyes watered helplessly as the moss made her paw burn a deep, dark red. The Hope Dreamer, a kind purple-eyed calico named Jennie, heard Luna and came to help her.
Helping Luna nurse her wound, she scolded her slightly. “What were you doing? Why did you use moss? I told you moss would hurt the wound! I told you so! I told you so!” But Luna knew that Jennie was only trying to help her. “I remember you saying that the moss was good for wounds.” Muttered Luna, nearly fainting from the pain and burn of the moss, which was still making Luna’s wound burn red. Jennie grunted quietly, then used a few leaves to bandage Jennie’s white paw, which was now burning so red that Luna could see it was blood red. “Don’t worry,” said Jennie soothingly. “This wound is quite mild from what I’ve seen, there have been a few cats that came home one day from hunting, covered in scratches, then accidentally get buried in moss and come home crying with pain.” Luna’s face twisted and turned at the thought of what that would feel like. “That must hurt,” she said, realizing her wound was much better now. “It does hurt, really. It’s really just the luck of some cats, some are born with luck, go out to hunt and come back everyday with twenty young does, but some are born with bad luck, go out hunting everyday and the most they come back with every week is half a mouse. Your wound’s much better now, I think you can go now.” said Jennie, patting Luna with a flick of her tail. Luna jumped out of the den they had been in, and went to find her brother Claw.
With bounces and skips, Luna found her brother Claw. “Claw! I got burned by some moss, look!” squealed Luna, showing Claw her paw. “Eww… Disgusting. I found my friend Vithi, want to go play?” Claw asked. Luna shook her head furiously and thought about Vithi. Vithi was always bragging, proud of her calico coat in the fact she was pure Persian. Vithi was already a Muse, though, and she was way older than Luna, by 6 months. Luna hated her. “No.” Luna said finally and angrily stalked off. “What’s wrong with her?” mumbled Claw, and he went to find Vithi.
With her extreme bad luck, Luna just happened to meet Vithi. “Where have you been?” snapped Vithi, rolling her eyes. “You obviously got hurt. Well, since I’m of purity, I’m never hurt.” Vithi said, spotting Luna’s bandages. Luna growled. “If you dare, Vithi...” hissed Luna. “Well, then bring it on!” said Nithi, extracting her claws. Vithi and Luna both looked their opponent in their eyes. Luna pounced first, landing on Vithi and sinking teeth into Vithi’s neck. But Vithi wasn’t letting Luna off this easily. Vithi attacked just as fiercely. Angrily, she clawed furiously and managed to get Luna off her. Luna attacked again, with increased anger, powered by her anger towards Vithi. Vithi saw this one coming, though, and to counter the attack she brought out her claws again and swiped at Luna’s back. Luna returned the favor, raking her claws deep into Vithi’s underside. Vithi yowled in pain, but she went crazy. Kicking and raking agrily, she took a bite at Luna, scratched her and kicked her angrily.
They kept fighting, and by the looks of it, Vithi was going to win. But Jennie saw it and rushed over. “Vithi! How could you attack Luna? She is six months younger than you! And you’re just as bad,” she added to Luna, who’s satisfied smirk quickly turned into a frown. “I’ll get you two fixed up, but no more fighting, got it?” Luna and Vithi frowned, but both muttered a “Yes,”
Jennie put a few leaves on Vithi’s soft underside, and put a few herbs on it so that it would heal in good time. As soon as she saw Vithi’s pierced neck, she went into an outrage. “Luna! You could have killed her! You should be quite happy I haven’t reported you to Mist, and you’re horrible too,” snapped Jennie to Vithi, when she saw the heavy claw marks and blood seeping from Luna. Vithi’s mumbled something that sounded like, “Sor-ree.” “And don’t talk back to a Hope Dreamer, or any type of Dreamer.” Hissed Jennie, hearing Vithi mumble.
Luna’s mother was Mist, and Jennie knew that Luna wouldn’t fancy being told on. Mist used to get told on all the time when she was a child, and now she was just like a mother, strict and quiet. A few of Luna’s friends also hated Vithi, and were quite happy to hear that Luna had battled her. But Claw and Mist were furious. “HOW COULD YOU ATTACK OUR LAST HOPE TERRITORY MEMBER? THIS IS OUR LAST HOPE! THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE TO GO! WE ALL CAME HERE BECAUSE WE NEEDED A BREAK, A REST FROM THE OTHER FIERCE TERRITORIES! I SPEND HALF MY LIFE MAKING SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS PEACEFUL, AND MY OWN DAUGHTER DISOBEYS THE RULES!” Luna could just remember Mist screaming. “VITHI! YOU ATTACKED VITHI? SHE IS OUR BEST HUNTER, OUR BEST BATTLER, AND YOU DARE TO ATTACK HER? THIS IS SHAMEFUL TO OUR FAMILY NAME! EAT DUNG, LUNA!” screamed Claw, and spat angrily in her face. Luna however, quickly said to both of them, “I’ll create Last Hope two if you guys don’t shut up.” That indeed shut up both Mist and Claw, including Jennie, and a few other Dreamers that were very angry with Luna.
Luna, with a happy expression on her face, set off to find some good, proper prey.
Water Territory
Jade was shaking. “She did…not…just…do…that…” Jade shuddered. “Oh mum it’s been a year already will you just let it go?” Said Jemmu, Jade’s new daughter. “She…did…not…just…do…that…” Jade shuddered again. “MUM IT’S BEEN A YEAR WILL YOU SHUT UP?” screamed Jemmu. “She…did…not…just…do…that…” Jade shuddered yet again. Jemmu cracked. She padded right out of the den, and barely pausing, she kicked her back legs so that a dust cloud would be upon Jade. “She…did…not…just…do…that…” Jade shuddered for the fourth time. Jemmu just walked away in anger. Jade sat there, not moving a centimeter, repeating over and over again, “She…did…not…just…do…that…”
“Stupid Mum…” Jemmu muttered to herself as she went to find her friends. “Kayla will be surprised about this…”
Last Hope Territory
Jennie straightened up her prey. She suspected now was the time. Taking her things with her, Jennie walked up to Mist, a sad expression on her face. “Mist. My father…M-my father wants me to return to Fire Territory. I am sorry. B-but you k-know that w-we can’t d-disobey our f-fathers.” She said, tears clouding her purple eyes. “What? You’re leaving Last Hope? We’ve been friends since we were kits!” shouted Mist. “I-I’ve told you I’m sorry. B-but it’s a great family n-name shame i-if I d-don’t o-obey m-my father…” said Jennie, already backing away from the den, ready to return to Fire Territory. “Jennie! Don’t leave!” screamed Mist, running as fast as she could. But Jennie was already running out, towards the way of the Fire Territory, tears splashing down her front. Mist whispered a faint, “No…” then collapsed in grief.
Fire Territory
Jennie’s tears were flooding dens. “You will stay here.” Instructed her father, Garjad, a creamy white tom, when Jennie asked if she could go back to Last Hope. “That stupid cat is not your Last Hope, and you will not interact with cats of other territories. That cat is from Water territory! Do you know what that means? Water extinguishes Fire! Out of the other two territories this is the worst territory’s cat you could interact with! They are horrible and reckless cats!” Jennie could no longer hold it in. “Fire kills Thunder.” She snapped angrily, again straightening her prey, ready to go back to Last Hope. “YOU RECKLESS LITTLE CAT! GO BACK TO LAST HOPE, THEN AND FACE YOUR SO CALLED ‘DESTINY’!” shrieked Jennie’s mother Hara. Jennie whispered a quiet, “Thank you, Heralia,” and went off. Many cats often said that Heralia helped cats when they were desperate.
Last Hope Territory
“Are you sure that she will be okay?” Luna whispered anxiously to Vithi, who had been appointed the temporary Hope Dreamer until they found someone with the skills. Luna and Vithi were looking at Mist, who looked like she was in a coma. “Course she’ll be okay. Will you stop worrying so much about her?” came Vithi’s annoyed reply. When Luna heard this, her whiskers drooped. “She is my mother!” she protested unhappily. Vithi snorted. Suddenly they heard a thundering noise, and Jennie came stampeding over as fast as she could. Out of breath, Jennie panted, then seeing Mist’s unconscious body, said, “Is Mist okay? Will she be okay?” Vithi snorted again, laying down to rest. “You’re just as anxious as our little cat here,” Vithi grunted, pointing to Luna. Imitating the voice of Luna she squeaked, “ ‘Are you sure that she’ll be okay? You sure? Sure?’” Luna hissed, and arched her back, ready to attack. “Luna!” said Jennie warningly, and she pawed the ground. Luna went back into a comfortable and calm posture, but Jennie could tell she was still angry, she could barely keep her eyes off of Vithi, and she kept fidgeting. “And you,” she said to Vithi. “Don’t annoy Luna, she is a leader’s daughter.” Vithi lowered her head with shame. “Mist will be alright.” She muttered, with her whiskers drooping, fur looking heavy and droopy, and head lowered with shame. Luna quietly took a quick satisfied smirk then walked out of the den, thinking about Vithi’s words. Why are you worrying about her? Luna thought to herself. Why would I be worrying about her? After all, she’s always strict and she’s never nice. She’s my mother, Luna told herself firmly. She’s my mother. That’s why I’m worrying about her. But I might not like a mother… Luna shook it off, and went to find Claw.
“Claw! Claw! Where for Heralia’s sake are you?” called Luna, thrashing her head wildly around the dens and wildlife. But here was no reply. Luna began to get a little nervous. “Claw? Where are you, Claw? Stop playing games with me! You’ve got to be around here somewhere!” said Luna nervously; trying to reassure herself that Claw was okay. “Claw? You’ve just got to be around here, you’ve just go to be!” Now Luna was practically fighting herself, trying to ignore her natural instincts that something wrong had happened to Claw. But there was no denying it. Claw was not here in Last Hope Territory, and there was a 100% chance that something had got him, perhaps the Jay Forest that she had once heard her mother talking about. But Luna couldn’t think of how a forest would gobble down a cat. Luna was desperate. She ran into a few rosebushes and looked around in the thorns and prickles, but there was no Claw. It’s just that Claw is playing tricks on you; he’s just a stubborn, stubborn child! Luna told herself furiously, again trying to reassure herself that Claw was probably okay. But there was nothing to do. Luna could only head home to the empty den with no Mist and no Claw.
The next morning Luna woke up to find herself in a place that she did not know. It was white and dreamy, like floating clouds. Maybe I have died. Maybe I have gone to see Heralia. Thought Luna, looking around. “You’re not.” A voice whispered to Luna, and it sounded far, far away. Luna wheeled around. She found herself face to face with Jade, who was mewing softly over her paws, which had thorns embedded into her delicate little paws. “You’ve been taken to the cloud of prophecy.” Said Jade, and Luna felt she had to follow Jade, who was now leaving just as quickly as she came, or more specifically, disappearing just as fast as she had appeared. So Luna ran after Jade, shouting, “Hey-wait-for-me-you’re-going-way-to-fast-don’t go-SO FAST! AIYEE!” Luna had fallen off the so-called cloud of prophecy. Clawing and flinging her claws everywhere, she opened her eyes and standing in front of Luna was a severely scratched Jade that was looking extremely disgruntled. “Ahem. This is a cloud.” She grunted, pointing to the ground. “Oh?” said Luna. “Oh-of course I knew that. Where were we?” she said hastily to cover her embarrassment. Jade grunted again, then padded off, slightly motioning for Luna to follow her. Luna, somewhat embarrassed, followed.
Soon they came to a huge crystal building. It was very beautiful, made out of pure crystal and marble. There were fountains also made out of crystal squirting water everywhere, but not a droplet of water jumped out. The building was grand. It was marvelous. It looked like a place where a queen cat would live. Luna gasped. “Is-is this where-where Heralia lives?” she asked, watching the building with wide eyes and an open mouth. “No, never ever. Heralia would live in a grander place then this, silly kit. The Empress Sari lives here.” Snapped Jade, and seeing Luna’s confused look, she added, “I suppose your mother hasn’t told you about Empress Sari?” Luna shook her head still. As much as she wanted to learn about this Empress, Luna wanted to see what was in the crystal building. So she said, “Can we go in?” “We can go in, that’s why I’m teaching you, stupid.” Said Jade. “The Empress cat of all the territories is chosen every 500 years. The Empress controls the seas, the runes, and the wildlife. This Empress was never stronger than Heralia, though, most of that still goes to Heralia. But the Empress is a very powerful cat, and if she decides one territory is being bad to another, then she will punish them. Heralia can’t do this. Heralia loves peace, and she couldn’t find the heart to punish them. We’re asking Empress Sari for your brother back, apparently Sari though he was being cruel, being friends with that lie, Vithi. Vithi…I will get that foul thing that managed herself into my daughter’s territory.” Growled Jade, slapping an invisible Vithi with her paw, obviously angry. So Jade really does care for Mist, thought Jade. Then she had a different thought. How could you think that Jade doesn’t like Mist? Stupid cat, of course a mother cares for her daughter! Jade would never hate Mist!
After a little while Jade and Luna went into the crystal building. Jade greeted Empress Sari warmly. “Empress, Your Majesty, how are you? I come to ask if we may take back Luna’s big brother, Claw.” Murmured Jade. Empress Sari snorted, then threw a tiny silver key to Jade. “Fourth floor, second door, eighth cage, fifth compartment, ninth cat, should be who you’re looking for.” “Thank you, my dear Empress. You are very wonderful.” Said Jade, and Luna and Jade set off.
An hour later they were still walking. “HOW MANY STAIRS DOES THIS PLACE HAVE?” screamed Luna in exasperation. “Be still. We’re almost there.” Snapped Jade. Luna nodded, and went with Jade to the next floor. But not long afterwards they reached the second floor, Luna again began to whine. “When are we going to get there?” she whined impatiently. “We just reached the second floor!” snapped Jade. Luna shut herself up, but not long after they had reached the fourth floor, Luna began to whine again. “We’ve been walking for ages! Where is Claw?” she whined, having only just reached the first door after a few hours of walking. “Be patient! You should know that a day on the sky is much longer tan a day on the ground. So Luna stopped whining. But a little after that, Luna again began to whine. “Oh when are we going to find Claw? We’ve been walking for a decade!” she whined again. Jade cracked. “Will you shut up? This is the third time you’ve asked. We’re almost there! Can you just be quiet for a while?” she growled angrily, and Luna obeyed. Soon enough, they came to Claw. Luna grunted then said, “Let’s go home, shall we?” to Claw, and he happily went home.
But as they went home, they found war broken out amongst the territories. Running from a crazy black female cat from Fire Territory, Luna screamed to Claw, “HOW IN THE WORLD DID THIS HAPPEN?” However, a creamy white Tom from Thunder Territory was now hot on their trail, and neither of them had any time to answer questions. The two kits decided it was best to keep running. A Water Territory female cat pounced onto Claw, and bit into his neck. “OH NO YOU DON’T! DON’T YOU DARE HIT MY BROTHER!” Luna shrieked and pounced herself onto the Water Territory cat and sank her claws onto her head. The Water Territory cat collapsed and died. “One cat down,” Luna muttered to herself. “That was fun,” she said to Claw in a louder and more cheerful tone. “Want to try that again, want to join in the fighting?” Claw nodded eagerly. “I’ve always wanted to try out that move Jennie taught us sometime, heehee.” He said, clapping his paws together. Luna and Claw aimed for the creamy white Tom from Thunder Territory. Claw raked his sharp claws into his side while Luna pounced and bit his back fiercely. Managing to overpower him at the last second, the kits decided it was time to find some friends to help. Luna rushed to find her friends Hannah, Wisp, and Fennica. Hannah was a yellowish tabby cat with green eyes. Wisp was a blue cat with shimmering pale gray eyes that shone like the moon. Fennica was a small, agile cat that was Hannah’s younger sister. She was yellowish just like her sister, but her eyes were piercing blue.
Hannah agreed. Fennica didn’t. Wisp agreed. Since Fennica had to listen to Hannah, all three cats joined in on the fighting.
Claw, on the other hand, had not found his friends. No doubt, they had either all been killed, or they had been taken to a safe place. And so, the five cats teamed up and began to fight.
A grayish whitish cat with cold gray eyes attacked Fennica. Hannah wasn’t going to let this happen. She let out a shriek that pierced the air, and jumped into the skies, and when she fell down, scraped the cat on her underside. The cat was somewhat surprised, and began to go crazy, having not expected this. She flung her claws wherever she could reach, meowed scathingly and shrieked. Claw saw this as an advantage. He jumped onto the screaming cat, clawing crazily and reaching his claws wherever he wanted to. Eventually his claws reached the cat’s head, and not too long afterwards, the cat died too. Luna and Wisp hadn’t joined in. They were busy fighting a Droplet that had attacked Wisp. Luna raked her claws into his back while Wisp drew a long breath and pounced on the Droplet, conveniently also managing to bite his neck.
Fennica drew breath as they looked around. Mist had awoken and was now tirelessly defending their territory. Luna ran over and asked breathlessly, “Mum, what happened-I went with Jade to the cloud of prophecy and I looked and-well there was a cat on me!” Mist turned her head to Luna. “Well some cat named Kilosin came and declared war because apparently only three territories can exist-look, Luna, will you help me with this cat?” she snapped, pointing her paw to a black she-cat with green eyes that had just pounced onto her. “Oh!” said Luna, and she leaped onto the cat, clawing and hissing endlessly. Things looked good, Luna and Mist were just overpowering the cat-but then her mate came, a strong muscular cat that had pure gray fur that was long and straight. He stared at Luna with his angry blue eyes, and Luna gave a small “Miaou.” and ran for her life, followed closely by the gray tom. Luna could quite clearly hear the growls of the tom, and Luna ran faster. The tom, however, quickly discovered that she was faster and he accelerated his speed too. Fennica meowed with a happy tone, while chasing after the tom herself. Hannah, who needed to protect Fennica, ran after her. Claw saw that Luna was gone and ran to chase her. Wisp saw that she was all by herself and decided she too would chase along.
Now, if you watched the cats that day, you would see a very strange sight. A black tom was running after a white cat, and a yellowish cat was running after the black cat. And a brownish yellow cat was chasing after the yellow cat while a blue gray cat was chasing after him! Eventually the black tom stopped, but Luna was so angry with him she hissed scathingly and chased after him, pouncing onto him the moment he was just out of her reach. She caught onto his tail.
