LadySonder’s Poems— Feel Free to Read or Respond

Postby LadySonder » Thu Jan 18, 2024 1:57 am

Hello, this is simply a forum thread I made to share some of my poetry with my fellow Chicken Smoothie members. These are from the writings in my Notes app throughout the years, as well as some Creative Writing projects from school.

Please feel free to read some of these or tell me what you think of them. I am also willing to answer questions if needed.

”Dollhouse”

I cannot help but feel that I need to be perfect
Amidst these aesthetics and picturesque placements,
I lift my head, with practiced posture, and remember
that someone is always watching.

Gently tighten the puppet strings around my wrists
And I’ll practice my beautiful poses
In my hand-sewn dresses of lace and roses,
to remind myself
that someone is always watching.

I shall stand within my wooden dollhouse
with a wooden heart,
because throughout this life
of beauty, stillness, and solitude,
I have yet to let myself falter
because I cannot help but feel that I need to be perfect

For the one who is always watching.

“I Know”

I know, if I could,
I’d go back in time.
Right to the moment when I said goodbye.
I wouldn’t have chose to chance the unknown,
as I cried over my hands,
and over my phone,
wondering what happened
to the seventh-grade me
that I’d once known, and
I know
That it must have hurt you, and
I know
That I should have told you, that
I know
Just what a caring person I’ve seen
waiting on the other side
of the screen
I didn’t want to say goodbye,
so why did I have
to do it for me?

“Ultimate Pokémon Brawl!
(This poem is written about Pokémon and may be confusing to those unfamiliar with the franchise.)

Welcome, everyone, one and all!
It’s the ultimate Pokémon brawl!
Arcanine summons a fire blast
Dialga dodges and escapes to the past
Pikachu pounces and discharges lightning
Lucario leaps and joins in the fighting
Blastoise shoots out a Hydro Pump
Cinderace dodges with one mighty jump
Lugia soars with its Aerial Ace
Blissey uses Protect, just in case
Scizor darts forward with Bullet Punch
Gyarados counters with a crit. hit crunch
Volcannon prepares to build up steam
Gardevoir stuns with its Dazzling Gleam
Charizard attacks with Dragon Claw
Noivern does too, and it leads to a draw
Alolan Ponyta uses Play Rough
Wooloo defends with its thick, dense fluff
Pidgeot flies with its Quick Attack
Dialga gets hit once it comes back
Espeon summons a Future Sight
Umbreon disappears in the darkness of night
Zoroark uses an illusion to hide
Kyogre rides on the incoming tide
Venusaur unleashes a Frenzy Plant
Rattata tries to dodge it, but can’t
Flabébé floats away on its flower
Mewtwo wields its psychic power
The Pokémon trainers all stand tall
Because it’s the ultimate Pokémon brawl!

“Prince Arctic”
(This poem is written about a character from the Wings of Fire series and may be unfamiliar to those who have not read the books, specifically the prequel and the Jade Winglet arc.)

Trapped in a frozen wasteland
Knowing this wretched magic
Chained by rules and expectations
Just get me out, this tragic
Kingdom in which I’m trapped in
Forged in ice and snow
A cruel love I’ve never come to know
Within these icy walls, they’re pressing
In the bitter cold, repressing
All of my longing and despair
My beating heart just isn’t there.

Just take me anywhere but here
To a place of true, unbridled feeling
When I met you, your words, your warmth
Had left my icy heart reeling
In time, I leave, with you by my side
Flying towards the future we saw
Yet in time, I would come to find
That the ice in my heart never thawed.

The days and nights, inherently wrong
These bitter arguments, painful and long
Yet buried beneath these layers of ice
Was an ember of love, flaring higher
It might have seemed small
But it takes just one ember
To set the strongest of forests on fire.

However, by then, it was far too late
The darkness had caught up to me
I was deep within my rage, and yet
I was simply a puppet, held by its string
Condemned to a death of excruciating pain
A fate of desolation and starkness
Within the sight of the unfeeling night
And the ruthless stalker of darkness.

“See the World”

Come out of this haunted place
Go see the world, and all its space
Leap into the fields of flowers
Feel the rain that comes in showers
Gaze at the moon as it shines bright and true
Swim in the ocean of deepest blue
Walk under skies where you can see stars
Find all the planets, from Neptune to Mars
Feel the wind as it sweeps away fears
Fly over mountains that dry your tears
Seep into snow that’s whiter than feathers
Look at the light as it changes through weather
Catch the leaves as they fall toward the ground
Watch as the comets spin round and round
Feel the warm sun as it casts light over space
Please, come with me, out of this haunted place.
