Bello knew that something was wrong with Deimos the minute they left camp. The usually active Irontooth had been sulking since the last moon, which was disturbingly unnatural. Bello may have only been in the camp a few moons but he wasn't stupid. The forest was calm and quiet after the onslaught of rain they'd had the previous moons. Mud curled around his paws and threatened to drag him down, so he took care not to move quickly. Deimos walked ahead of him, his long shaggy coat still dripping water. His eyes were narrowed in deep thought. Before asking him out on patrol, Bello had gone to Anteros to see if he had any knowledge about what was bugging his brother. He admittedly didn't know. Bello sighed to himself as he watched Deimos. He guessed that if he was going to find out, he needed to do it himself.

The two dogs went their separate ways and Bello did rather well, managing to catch a few pieces of prey before trotting back to find Deimos. When he did, he saw him standing perfectly still. His eyes were unfocused even as a mouse scurried nonchalantly back forth across his paws. Now Bello was just annoyed. With a small growl, he dropped the snake and ran at the mouse. The small creature squeaked in fear as Bello's large jaws snapped it's neck.

For his part, Deimos jumped back and blinked up at the Beta. Then he flattened his ears in embarrassment. "I'm sorry. I must've zoned out." He muttered, anger lacing his words.

"Then you've been zoned out for the better half of this hunt!" Bello growled, setting the mouse down angrily at his paws. "What in Luna's name has been going on with you?" He demanded in a growl, "You've been moping around, snapping at everyone who's tried to help you, and frankly I'm sick of it!"

"And why should I care?" Deimos responded, lashing his tail. He stood up straighter and took a step foreword, making an increasingly angry Bello take one step back. "My business is my business, so stay out of it." He growled and started to stalk away when Bello grabbed his tail in his teeth and yanked him back. Deimos yelped and whirled around, his hackles raised.

"I am your Beta, Deimos." Bello spat as he released him, his own hackles raised. "If I ask something of you, you will do it whether it's my business or not."

Deimos actually chuckled and shook his head. "You aren't the Alpha, Bello." He said venomously, "I don't have to do anything you say, especially since I've been here longer than you have."

"Are you doubting my loyalty?"

"I might be."

A growl rumbled in Bello's chest. "I see." He spat at him and then quickly moved towards him. He grabbed him by the scruff and began dragging him back to camp to face Ares. If he wanted to talk to the Alpha, Bello would make sure he saw the Alpha. You see, Bello could handle having his authority challenged, but if you doubted his loyalty? Luna help your soul.
