Personality: Ana was raised by her grandfather,
and this has led her to learn quite a few tricks from
him- it is thus always with great pleasure that she
amazes children by making a sudden flower appear
in one's ear, or make a tissue vanish in another's nose.
Doing magic is her way of expressing herself. Other
than that, she is very quiet, but also very curious,
loving to flutter behind and around people to look
at things through a different angle- figuratively and
literally.

History before Cyrrane: Ana does not remember
her parents, who died in a mountain accident when she
was 1. The one family she does know is her grandfather,
Sabra, who took care of her since. She traveled with
him for many years, never staying too long in one
place, and learning magic tricks as she went. Her
being a fairy allowed her to quickly join her
grandfather in his magic shows.

Family: Ana Tale is Sabra Tale's granddaughter.

Sabra Tale

Race: Bat shapeshifter

Personality: Sabra enjoys making a show of
himself, sometimes acting all mysterious and formal-
he is, in fact, quite a joker, and enjoys playing tricks
on everyone, though his favored targets are children.
He is a magician, and knows hundreds of tricks to
amaze his audience.. And he is quite proud of that
fact. He believes his trade to be of the greatest
importance and is ever so upset when someone
finds out one of his tricks.

History before Cyrrane: Sabra was born
and grew up in a simple village, nestled in large
mountains. They didn't have much, but the whole
village stuck together and no-one ever starved-
there was just enough for everyone. Sabra married
a young woman from his village, and had a son.
His wife was pregnant from their second child
when a huge snowstorm struck. Sabra was
anxious, for they had not been prepared, and
did not have enough wood to last very long.
Risking it all, Sabra left the house to get some
wood from the shed, only a dozen meters
away from the house, but when he was about
halfway through, and already quite disoriented,
a huge branch, broken off by the powerful wind,
hit him in the head, and he sank to the ground,
unconscious.
He stayed so for over an hour, and when he woke
up, he had no idea what was where and which
way was home. He would surely had died should
his wife not have come out, worried, and gone
to get him. Sabra recovered... But the sudden
cold at such a precarious time did not leave his
wife any chances- she fell ill and died in Sabra's
arms a week later, with her unborn child. Sabra
never truly recovered from that, and still believes
it is his fault. He was always there for his son,
who married and also had a child.
But disaster struck again. Sabra's son and his wife
had gone on a trip, leaving their child, Ana, under
her grandfather's care. A week later, the news came
that there had been a terrible accident, the path
they had been traveling on had crumbled, and both
parents had fallen to their deaths. Ana was only a
year old, and Sabra could not bear to stay in this
place where so many terrible things had happened.
He left with the baby, taking care of her as a father
would, and traveled, slowly but never completely
recovering from the deaths. He became traveling
magician and taught Ana as they went from village
to village, until finally, caught up by the years, he
decided to settle in Cyrrane.

Family: Sabra Tale is Ana Tale's grandfather.

Laila Greenfeld

Personality: Laila is a very kind person, she will always put others
well-being before hers- at her detriment sometimes. She is a very
protective person, and don't anyone dare touch her children because
she will tear their eyes out.

History before Cyrrane: Laila was born in the country, and grew
up there. When both were adults, her sister Victoria moved to a
town named Neomiltis, and Laila followed her there. This is where
she met the love of her life, a man named Simeon, whom she married
a year or so later. It was a happy marriage, and they had a boy named
Zacchaeus. Laila wasn't the most happy in the city: she had a true
passion for gardening and the plants she grew on the roof just
wasn't enough-yet, she always thought of others before herself
and constantly put back moving because of her son's schooling.
When Zach had just turned 14, a civil war started in Neomiltis. At
first it wasn't extremely worrying, and the family's plans to move
were constantly pushed back as they waited for things to blow
over. Instead of that, things blew up. Simeon was dragged
into the militia and went missing after only a month. This was
when things became very scary. Going out on the streets was
constantly hazardous, there were never-ending stories of people
getting caught in a fight and getting injured or killed, people
going missing... Laila was also pregnant from her late husband,
and she just knew she had to get her son and unborn baby out.
Through some contacts, she somehow found a safe passage out
of the city.
Laila and Zacchaeus had nowhere to go after leaving the city.
They survived thanks to Laila's knowledge of plants and wound
up in Mekhanikos. However, they were not in luck: the village
was at war, and after some very scary episodes, Laila and Zach
left the village, hoping for finally a peaceful life. Laila was by
then heavily pregnant, and very close to her nine months when
she finally found Cyrrane.

Family: Laila is Zacchaeus' mother, as well as the twins
Nora and Axel's. Their father, Simeon, is missing, presumably dead.
Laila also has a sister named Victoria, whom she hopes made it
out of the city.

Zacchaeus Greenfeld

Race: Human

Personality: Zacchaeus is through and through a city kid. He doesn't
believe anything interesting can be done in those 'small boring-as thorps',
as he calls them. Zach truly believes he would've been better off in the city
with his friends, though that can be debatable. He is in fact a very caring
person, but he has trouble getting used to growing up, and these
complicated feelings make him seem brash and unfriendly.

History before Cyrrane: Zacchaeus was born in the city of Neomiltis,
and grew up there for many years. He could never really understand his
parents love for plants, especially his mother, and was closest to his father.
When the civil war broke out, Zach never understood how much of a danger
it actually could represent for him, and it was a huge shock to lose his
father so suddenly. He never gave up on him however, and still deep
down wants to find him again- he doesn't mention this to his mother
usually however, as he is still sensible enough to see how it would hurt her.
When his mother found a passage out of Neomiltis, Zacchaeus was furious:
he was happy here, how dare she make him leave?? What if his father came
back and couldn't find them? He never really forgave his mother for that.

Family: Zacchaeus is Laila's son. His father, Simeon, is
missing, presumably dead. He has two younger siblings, the twins
Nora and Axel.

Axel Greenfeld

Personality: Axel is a very earnest person, and who,
when in doubt about something, will always ask upfront
about it. He believes in honesty and trust, qualities that
may definitely not be overlooked. He does, however,
tend to underestimate himself and not understand why
people like him so much, he feels as though he does not fit in.

Family: His mother is Laila Greenfeld and his
father the missing, presumably deceased, Simeon Greenfeld.
He has a twin sister, Nora, and an older brother, Zacchaeus.

Nora Greenfeld

Race: Human

Personality: Nora is always quiet, but supportive.
She believes everyone has good inside and maybe tends to
be a little too trusting.. She does not have many very close
friends, only a few close to her heart amongst the many
people she knows, and family is very important for her.

Family: Her mother is Laila Greenfeld and her
father the missing, presumably deceased, Simeon Greenfeld.
She has a twin brother, Axel, and an older brother, Zacchaeus.

Ulgrik Beasthand

Race: Dwarf

Personality: Ulgrik is a very friendly chap, always there
to offer a hand, and he loves his beer every now and then. He
cares for the people close to him very much, and is a big worrier,
always thinking about the things that could go wrong, and what
he could do to sort that out.. He isn't a big thinker though, and
though everything comes from good intentions, things don't
always work out quite as he wants them.

History before Cyrrane: Ulgrik was born in a classic
Dwarf clan, and grew up in a loving family. His last name
comes from his good ability to tame animals and control them.
Ulgrik met and married his wife in his clan, and they had a
child, Jorveid. Ulgrik's wife, however, died in childbirth, as
was sadly common at the time. When Jorveid was just 3 years
old, while he was on patrol, Ulgrik heard crying in the forest..
How big his surprise was, when he found a baby, abandoned!
Always having a large heart, Ulgrik took the baby back and he
took care of him, raising him as his own son, a Dwarf, though
the baby was in fact a human. Jorveid and the boy, named
Hessin, became great friends and were always out for adventures.
Ulgrik had recovered from his wife's death, but he was always a big
worrier and watched over the boys constantly. One day, he heard
them talking about a dragons lair. At first he dismissed it as a game..
But when the boys left home, saying they'd be back the next day
because they were going to see the dragon!.. Ulgrik worried again.
He followed the boys, during a long trip, and finally he stopped
outside a dark cave.. The boys went in. Ulgrik waited a little.
Then, his worry taking over, he went in.. And at that precise
moment, a huge burst of flames came from the depths of the
cave, burning his hair on the way. The children ran out, both
having lost their hair but not injured other than that. They told
Ulgrik that in fact, the dragon had cursed them.. Their hair would
grow back, but only grey!
The small group was rather disoriented as they tried to go back to
their clan, and somehow ended up near Cyrrane borders, many
weeks after that, and their hair had begun growing again- indeed,
it was grey.

Family: Ulgrik is Jorveid's father and Hessin's adoptive father.

Jorveid Shortfury

Race: Dwarf

Personality: Jorveid is a very playful fellow, always wanting
to move around, do things, never sitting still. He does tend to have a
short temper (hence his name) and so people must be careful not to
say or do things that might make him mad- though, even if he is quick
to get angry, he is just as quick to forgive and change mood.

History before Cyrrane: Jorveid does not know any other family
than Ulgrik, the father who was always there for him, and Hessin, his
best friend and adopted brother. Jorveid barely remembers his life
before Hessin, and for him, it has no importance. All he knows it that
when he was three, his father came home with a baby, and since then,
the two boys became fast friends.
When Hessin was 13 and Jorveid 15, the two heard from a clan elder
about this dragon lair which would apparently not be far, only a day
away. It did not take much time before Hessin and Jorveid decided
to go- to see an actual dragon lair would be awesome! The trip was
relatively easy. When the two arrived by the dragons lair, they were
not disappointed, though they were thoroughly scared: piles upon
piles of gold and mysterious objects.. And atop all, a huge, sleeping
silver Dragon. Jorveid and Hessin were courageous, maybe a little
stupid. They attempted to take a small object each, and while they
did succeed in taking something- Hessin a gold coin and Jorveid a
medallion- the dragon woke. It was angry, but not furious, for they
were children. It growled, and cursed them, then blew a spurt of fire
(which, accidentally, hit Ulgrik too) that burned off all their hair.
The dragons curse was that, when it grew again, it would be all grey.
Chastened but not disappointed by this encounter, the two calmed for
a while. They and Ulgrik were lost, and traveled in the woods for a
while until they stumbled upon the Cyrrane patrol.

Hessin Tallmind

Personality: Hessin is a very lively boy, very smart too, though
sometimes a little naive. He loves playing around with materials and
inventing things: small boy, big ideas. He will always try and look at
things through a different angle when faced with a problem, thinking
that there always is a solution, even if it it not obvious immediately.
Hessin may be thought inconsiderate when he looks for solutions, because
he does not go out of his way to smooth people's emotions- Hessin wants
the practical and most logic solution. He cares about those close to him
very much, but doesn't really know how to deal with emotions.

History before Cyrrane: Hessin was born from a father who
never wanted him and a mother who couldn't take care of him. He was
abandoned when the burden of a baby became too big for his mother,
a woman too young to have a good lifestyle, and who hoped he would
die quickly. He did not. After only a few hours of crying, scared and
cold, a savior came: Ulgrik Beasthand, a dwarf from a nearby clan, who
took him in and raised him as his own son. Hessin grew up effectively
thinking he was a dwarf, just a bit tall, for no-one actually told him he
was not, and he somehow did not question it.
Hessin became best friends with Jorveid, Ulgrik's son, and the two
support each other through thick and thin, always partners in crime.

Gwinaelle Sharpgaze

Race: Dwarf

Personality: Though often quiet, Gwinaelle is not shy.
She just doesn't believe in useless blabbering, and thinks there
is a time for everything, including talking. Gwinaelle is very
attentive of detail and notices very quickly is people aren't
feeling good, or if they are hiding something.

History before Cyrrane: Born in a classic Dwarf clan,
Yameldein and Gwinaelle should have had an easy life.. But
their father, an untrustworthy and sometimes dangerous
playboy, left their mother when the twins were only 5. The
girls barely remember him. Their mother had to work very
hard to keep a healthy standard of living, for their father had
left a very bad impression on the clan and people were
reluctant to help out. As soon as they were old enough,
Gwinaelle and Yameldein did their best to help out, though
it was obvious that again, the other dwarves did not really
want to accept them into their midst. When the girls
were 14, their mother fell gravely ill, and later died. For a
while, they tried to get back into society, working for others,
doing their best to be agreeable and friendly.. But to no avail.
Sick of this clan, the two girls left and went on the road,
traveling until they stumbled upon Cyrrane by chance.

Family: Gwinaelle has a twin sister, Yameldein.
