Also, here, have a question I've been thinking about:

What do you call your group of friends/people you hang out with?
I don't really know, lol. Anime fans?? We were drawn together by a mutual love for anime and we stuck because we loved each other. To call ourselves anime fans sounds a bit strange now but regardless, it's what brought us together.

What do you think makes a Classic a classic?
This is a really good question.

I honestly don't have much clue, but I guess a classic has to be revolutionary/influential/groundbreaking in its own genre, and/or contain themes that were especially poignant and relevant during the time of its release - all this notwithstanding the book's own initial popularity when it was first released. I guess this is what makes most classics super old, lol.

Mine would be:

From the unfinished Chapter Ten of Raven Rise. Narrative: Someone with children, by the looks of the two boys who looked like a mixture of the man and woman, calling out for their father, even though he couldn't hear them.

From Chapter Nine of Raven Rise. Ada: “And there you have it. The story of an idiot who lied and lied because she wanted to be loved by the person she considered family.”

From Chapter Nine of Raven Rise. Narrative, Pollux.: So, Pollux felt odd and out of place. An outlaw, a criminal, sitting on a couch in a room of terrified kids, glaring at an ice pack and drinking some sort of soft drink.

From Chapter Nine of Raven Rise. Narrative, Pollux: For a while, he just watched the people around him. Their movements seemed robotic, as if they were on autopilot, as if everything was perfect.

what are your favourite lines in your's or someone else's stories?

even though it's on the first page my favorite quote from my favorite book -- girl in pieces by kathleen glasgow -- is "but: i remember the stars that night. they were like salt against the sky, like someone spilled the shaker against very dark cloth. that mattered to me, their accidental beauty. the last thing i thought i might see before i died on the cold, wet grass."

What are your favourite lines in your's or someone else's stories?
"Look how the floor of heaven is thick inlaid with patines of bright gold" from The Merchant of Venice has always been a line I enjoyed.

PG Wodehouse has also written some absolutely hilarious lines in his stories. Let me try to dig some up:

The voice of Love seemed to call to me, but it was a wrong number.

He had the look of one who had drunk the cup of life and found a dead beetle at the bottom.

I'm not absolutely certain of the facts, but I rather fancy it's Shakespeare who says that it's always just when a fellow is feeling particularly braced with things in general that Fate sneaks up behind him with the bit of lead piping.

... as well as any Wodehouse quotes about fate in general because they always make me cry with laughter.

Good day, tiny humans! Sheesh, I've been away for a while--family junk. Thank goodness there's not much to catch up on.

What do you think makes a Classic a classic?
If something was written a long time ago, and its meaning is still powerful and still stays true despite years passing by, then I'd call it a classic.

What are your favourite lines in your or someone else's stories?
There's hundreds, but I can't think of any. Birds of a Lesser Paradise, The Handmaid's Tale, After the First Death, H is for Hawk, I am the Cheese, The Kite Runner...so many fantastic lines. I'm not sure of any favorite lines in my own writing, either.

hey guys, long time no see -
i don't have answers to most of the questions that were asked, so i apologize for only answering one today

What do you think makes a Classic a classic?
honestly i have always wondered this myself, and never really gotten an answer formed. i personally think they're boring and hard to understand, so it's difficult for me to find the positive side of that. i guess it would be something that has some sort of deep meaning or lesson? but at the same time, i've read plenty of "classics" that make no sense and have no purpose, so who knows.
    ---

now for a question of my own to ask you guys: it's kind of a vague one, but i thought it would be interesting.
    Code: Select all
How are your characters similar/different from you?

    ---

as most of you have probably noticed from me never posting, i haven't been doing much writing, oops. but i just recently started a story that i'm up to 5300 words on, which for me is a pretty big achievement, lol. i might post it on cs someday in the future, but i don't know yet !!

How are your characters similar/different from you?
Well, the majority of my characters are animals. That makes them quite different. Ehh.
Generally they are all much more interesting then I am. Honestly there's not many remarkable similarities.

If crediting me for art/character design then please use TheSongOfTheStars on Toyhou.se
or FiveSecondsToFly on deviantart for anywhere else
