I just counted how many words I have in my story for Camp Nano and it's 4'677.
I think I should up my goal from 10'000 to maybe 15'000?
That just seems so much work though! DX

I have no idea how to do that, since this is my first time on camp nano, but my user is Captain Darya
Maybe just keep going and you can maybe up it later?

The event starts at the beginning of April, but I guess you can really start writing whenever.
I'm 'entering' a story I've already started on instead of starting a new one.

Hey, congrats! I entered the Scholastic comp this year, too, but didn't end up passing regionals, lol. Glad to see another scholastic competitor on the thread, though! Good luck with nationals - I'm sure you'll do great! What category did you end up submitting for?

I found out about my writing in a similar way as you, though it was for a different competition a super long time ago, lol. Just keep doing what you love, and my advice would be to remember that your writing is your own, and you aren't obligated to write for an audience if you don't want to. I had a problem like this around last year in which I went to a huge slump because I felt like I wasn't writing anything that "mattered", and I stopped writing for a long while because I was too embarrassed to do so. But then I decided to eff it and started writing for myself again, and I rediscovered my enjoyment in it. Sorry, I'm not too good at giving advice and I don't know if you have this same problem, lol, but I hope this helps a bit. Congrats again!

Wow! Congratulations! I've entered a poetry comp and I'm waiting to hear back (19th March 0.o)
My advice to you as a relatively new writer myself (like less than 2 years) is keep doing what you love. Keep writing about what interests you, and don't shut down to criticism. Some critiques can really help you develop as a writer but never change something if you're happy with how it is beforehand. If you love it, other people will!
