#3509 - Khimaira Friesians Breeding

Postby HowlingHooves » Tue Apr 16, 2019 4:57 am

    What are Khimaira Friesians?
    Khimaira Friesians are a "normal" friesian breed with all characteristics of a friesian and a average height from 15 to 17 hands, but even 18 hands can occur. The first born Khimaira was mistaked for a chimera horse. But a genetic test showed otherwise, there wasn't a second DNA but a complete new and unknown gen. Because this gen makes the friesian look like a chimera it was named khimaira. khimaira doesn't produce a complete new dna coat and therefor it can only lighten or darken the base coat of the horse. Till now only the paint khimaira is known that makes the khimaira coloration looks like tobiano, overo, sabino or splash. But we believe that there will be more khimaira variations out there and we still try to breed them. Appaloosas are not known till now, but we have some great friesian mixed horses with appaloosa patterns, so we are sure to deliver them to you in a short amount of time.

    You actually do have Khim Fire, but none of the Khim markings from the parents passed. c; That’s why he doesn’t express the marking. When I get home, lemme see if I’ve got any Khim Fire carriers and I’ll shoot you a PM. Ican’t recall that I do, but we’ll see. c;

If it rolls for Khim fire it should show? Khim fire is a separate marking.

See this page an go to Khim fire for more explanation.

    See this page an go to Khim fire for more explanation.

    I did refer to that page, and have before; I was always under the impression that Khim Fire made Khim markings appear as though they had flame, not that it was an actual marking. Even seeing it done on other Khims it always alters the Khim marking, it doesn’t show as its own separate thing.

    It’s currently super late here, however, so in all honesty I’ll deal with this later. Not really in a mood to argue semantics, especially since it can be handled tomorrow or otherwise.

Khim Fire wasn't supported as a dominant trait, and only had a 30% chance of appearing on the offspring. There were quite a few different markings that the father had that I loved but I did not expect to get all or even more than one...
I don't think we should worry too much about it, though... I love the offspring, and Hooves was even so kind as to offer a Khim Fire's breeding slot if they had one... ^-^"
