Story about what they fear the most:
From her behavior, no one would suspect it, but Saffron’s greatest fear has to be isolation. This female Viscet constantly surrounds herself with people, and seems happy enough on the outside – however, she is terrified of being all alone.
Perhaps this has to do with her mother. As a child, Saffron never knew her father. Her mother, Basil, claims that he was killed – Saffron suspects that he simply left when Saffron was born. Basil, now a singular parent of an ADHD-ridden Viscet, left one day on a hunting trip and never returned. Fortunately, at that time, Saffron was mostly independent already – she knew the basics of hunting.
The female quickly discovered that hunting was not as easy as her mother had made it seem when she was teaching her – for the first week of being alone, Saffron went hungry. And then that’s when Marcus found her, just outside the city limit. He’d approached her warily, his eyes small slits and his posture reluctant. “Are you lost?” Saffron remembered him asking, a frown on his face.
She’d shaken her head, her ears turned backwards with slight fear. “You look pretty hungry. Do you want a scone or something?” Marcus glanced behind himself. “There’s a bakery not too far from here.”
Saffron immediately perked up at the thought of eating. She’d never had a scone! She didn’t even know what it was. The female nodded, straightening and following the male. It’s not that she didn’t know how to talk – it’s just that her mother had isolated her from most of the real world for so long, that she didn’t want to sound odd to this friendly Viscet.
Marcus led her back towards the city, and she paused at the sight of cars zooming by, fear taking over her expression once more. “What are those?” She croaked, voice rough and crackly from disuse. “What? The cars?” Marcus was slightly perplexed. “You’ve never seen a car?” Saffron shook her head slowly. The male paused again, turning back to look at her. “What’s your name? Where are you from that you haven’t seen cars?”
The female hesitated again. “Saffron is my name,” She said slowly. “And I’ve lived back there my entire life.” With her tail, Saffy pointed back towards the forest they’d come from.
“In the forest?” Marcy asked incredulously. “No wonder you don’t know what cars are yet.”
