hello! i'm curious as to what your daily life is like, do you follow the same schedule every day? how early do you have to get up, and how late are you usually up caring for your animals?

Hello! I totally didn't see this til now, I'm sorry!

I am not a super schedule-oriented person, so we don't have a super strict schedule - we go let the goats and chickens out of their shelter at some point before 9am, and lock them back in by 9pm - there are lots of coyotes around here so that's the safest place for them at night! We also feed the barn cats, fill the water troughs, and check over all the horses twice a day. And then I work from home (I run an Equine Assisted Wellness business, which is why I have so many horses!) so I'm pretty much out there with them all day!

But I just had a baby in January, so that schedule is pretty fluid now lol

Do you have to have employees to help care for the animals? Or is it all family/household run? That's SO many animals, I know for me it's hard to imagine caring for more than the three critters my husband and I have. Still, it sounds like an awesome environment! I dream of having goats some day. ;;

It's all relative! It's my full time gig taking care of them all - sounds like you've got a fun full house too!

It's mostly household run! My husband and I both work from home on the ranch - but we do have a few casual staff/volunteers that help out occasionally! It keeps us busy for sure!

How do you protect your chickens from predators, ( mostly bears but I don’t know if you have them where you live) I live in the woods and will be getting chickens soon, so I’m trying to get a lot of information.

We lock them in at night! We have coyotes, foxes, and badgers mostly - the occasional cougar finds its way to our area. But during the day they are in their outdoor run and we also have a donkey for protection!
