Welcome to Shadow Cove's second Halter Class Event!

Here you can show off your horse in the hopes of winning prizes!
All breeds of horse may be entered, whether they are purebred or a mix of 14 different breeds.

This show will span seven (7) months, from the 22nd of January, 2016, to the 22nd of August, 2016

Rules
You may only enter one (1) horse in this event
Please read all posts before entering
Art must be drawn by you
Do not complain if you do not win a prize
This competition is based on effort, not talent
No whining/putting yourself down
You can enter any horse character you own, closed species or not

Requirements
This show requires two (2) art pieces: one (1) of your horse walking in the arena, and one (1) of your horse squared up by the table
Horses must be wearing correct tack
All art must be fullbody
Shading is not required
You are not required to draw the riders, but it is ok if you do
If you draw a rider, they must be dressed correctly

This is the arena. Horses and owners must follow the course exactly, or risk losing points.

"Hi, I'm Chad! I'm the first of the two judges, and I'll be looking to see how well dressed and groomed you and your horse are. You should probably understand the dress requirements for this show.
Horses are required to wear one of three types of halters. You can either use a standard black leather halter, like this one, a standard brown leather halter, like this one, or a standard tan leather halter, like this one. You can choose which one you would like your horse to wear, and if you don't own one, Shadow Cove can lease you one, free of charge!
The halter should fit the horse correctly. You'll know it fits if it is tight against the nose, but not so tight that the horse is uncomfortable. Our staff can help you with this if needed.
You should have a lead rope to lead your horse around the arena. The colour of the lead rope should match the colour of the halter, just so that everything looks neat and tidy. Again, if you don't have one, you can lease one from Shadow Cove free of charge.
Horses should have their manes groomed and clean, but they should not be braided or styled in any way. Their feet should be properly cared for, with no signs of neglect. If you need some last minute foot care before you take part in the show, Shadow Cove's own farrier will be around to assist you.
Their fur should be well bathed and groomed. Basically, your horse should be as clean and well groomed as possible. There will be stations around the ranch where you can give your horse any last minute touch ups.
Now for your own appearance! Horse owners should be wearing blue jeans, a professional button-up shirt, and a nice pair of boots. The boots can be any plain colour, and the shirt should have no large logos or designs on it. If needed you may wear a hat, but it should be more professional than a baseball cap.

"Hey, I'm Keane.
I'm here to judge how well you and your horse actually compete in this show. I'll give you the basic run down.
You see the arena diagram up there? you have to follow it exactly. Not doing so will make you lose points. It's an easy course though, so don't worry too much. Walk your horse to each of the cones. Don't stop at the first or last cone, only the middle one. This is so I can see how well your horse both listens to you, and how well he walks.
You'll have to lead your horse using the lead rope. No grabbing onto the halter directly; you'll lose points for that. And don't let the distance between you and your horse get too big. You need to be close enough to him to be able to give him commands and have him listen.
At the middle cone - the one by the table - you'll have to stop your horse. A simple 'wait' or 'halt' command should do the trick. Then you'll have to square him up. If you're not sure what that looks like, it looks like this. Your horse's feet should make a square on the ground. The better it looks, the more points you get.
While your horse is standing there, me and Chad are going to be judging them. He judges on appearance, I judge on obedience and overall performance. If you can do well in both of these areas, then you're pretty much set!
