Bananas can only grow on the beach? Well, that was a mistake on my account, aha
I feel like it might be the time traveling. I planted some peaches and the same thing happened with them.

I also made a very stupid mistake, so for those who skip ahead in time beware: i was at the end of January... So I skipped to the first of February. Except... I forgot to change the month.
So, in short, I went back to new years. It'd been like I was really gone a month after I skipped to Feb 1st -- weeds everywhere and what not, lost a lot of pretty flowers... Jitters moved out. He was supposed to leave about a week after his birthday party. Instead he moved our a day before it. :') boy did i feel dumb! Fortunately besides that everything is mostly normal now, no worries!

oh no!! i've always avoided time traveling, although i'll have to do it a bit if i plan on plot resetting (which i'm not looking forward to)

anyways!! i've got a new town!

it's named dharma. i'm pretty happy with the layout, plus, i got amelia, who i love! while i was looking at other maps, i got freya, fang, olivia, and some other really nice ones, but not good layouts.

Time traveling doesn't affect the growth of trees, but you said you planted them right next to the river, correct? If that's correct, that's the problem. Trees need space to grow, if you plant them too close to another object, be it buildings, rivers/ponds, rocks, or cliffs, they will wither and die. If you want to grow a fruit tree properly, plant it so it's not too close to anything that could cause it to die. I believe Isabelle tells you this while you're doing the asking for advice thing

^ New leaf uses your 3DS friend code. On the home screen of your 3DS you click the happy face on the upper part of the bottom screen. Hover over your mii and that should be your FC.

I haven't played in a while but I'm still buying the cards when I see them. My recent good cards are Merengue, Goldie, Mira, Maple, and Lopez! If anyone would like one of those villagers let me know.

At some point I might try trading my extra cards or reddit... any tips or advice if I do that? I actually have pretty decent extras; (Series 1-4) Blaire, Pekoe, Agnes, Freya, Shep, Wolfgang, Wendy, Pietro, Biskit, Octavian, Poncho, Blanche, Graham, Kitty, Bog top, Mott, Butch, Claudia, Aurora, and Annalisa. (WA series) Vivian, Dobie, Claude, Cleo, Candi, Hornsby, Snooty, and Admiral. Tips on their worth is appreciated so someone doesn't lowball me.

I might restart my 2nd copy at some point. I kind of want to make a town/character based off of my pocket camper. :"D

what do you mean cards?? like physical trading cards or cards in the game?? if you mean cards in the game (like ACNL) then how do you get cards and what do you do with them??

she is talking about amiibo cards. Basically with the new 3ds (or NFC reader/writer for old 3ds) you can scan villagers into your game using the cards
