tick, tick, tick.....diiiing !
the sound of shoes and voices coming from every direction flooded everyones ears. amara had been awoken from her wonderland once again, and she was disappointed in herself to say the least.
most of her class periods are full of just daydreaming. if there was a daydreaming class she would most definitely get an a. amara has a mind that can wander for miles on end, and with that comes with consequences.
her favorite holiday was halloween, and the reason why was obvious. it was the only day of the year she could dress however she wants, be whoever she wants, and make her dreams come alive. the best part is ? she could be herself without being judged.
she left the cliche devil and cat costumes behind a long time ago, but every year her friends never failed to ask her to join in with their group costumes. amara always felt bad saying no, but she still had an amazing time on her own.
this year she wanted to do something different. something a little more..normal ?
she threw together some of her most interesting clothing pieces, and what she came out with was near unexplainable. unfortunately for her, explaining was usually a part of her trick or treating trips.
she stood in the mirror admiring her costume for a bit before she came to the conclusion that she was definitely dead. she was a girl, who was dead. but that wasn't good enough.
she went through many titles. zombie girl, evil angel, ghost hospital patient. way too many to list.
time was flying out of her grasp and she couldn't spend the whole night deciding her final title, so, she decided that she would be all of her ideas. each house she went to, she would say something different.
amara sighed, grabbed her pail, and headed out her door. she was treating this like an expedition, and like everyone else on the block, she wanted to get the most candy.
she waved goodbye to her mother and her little brother, and smiled to herself. she was content with her costume and her ever-changing title.
the time had come to say the words she had been waiting to say for a year..
