its more in the rpg-style. basically, you spend most of the game doing quests and expanding your kingdom. you can unlock free-play, but even then your sims dont age or develop skills. i personally like it, though its not at all like the other sim games.

oohh, it sounds really cool! I watched a YouTube lets play of it a while ago and it looked really interesting, I might buy it if i can find it in a shop
