Emerald flinched again when the Rock Crystal started running. He grabbed his arm enhancer and tried to fire a blast at the gem... and missed. Cursing, he reattached the enhancer to his back and slowly summoned his weapon: a long, powerful chain with a crescent-shaped blade hanging from the end of it. It was unbelievably sharp, and the edge of the blade glinted in the rising sunlight. It reminded him that he hadn't drawn it in a while and practiced like he normally did. That wouldn't stop him from cutting right through that stone the Rock Crystal was hiding behind.
He held the chain in one hand and the handle in the other. He brought the chain back and started winding up a swing by whirling the crescent blade above his head, faster and faster. He suddenly brought the chain around, expertly moving with the momentum, and swung the lethal blade in a powerful arc towards the rock, cleaving it in two, and exposing the Rock Crystal once again. He redirected the blade and brought it down over head head in an attempt to slam the blade down directly on top of the Rock Crystal. Any gem but a Diamond would destabilize from such a direct and powerful hit.
Meanwhile... in a shady building within Beach City...
A group of humans sat around a table, one of them was smoking a cigar. They were discussing over a pile of photos and files on the table, occasionally flipping through them and slamming them on the table. The group was a band of jewel hunters. They normally went out and stole gems and jewels from their underground forming and sold them in black markets for extreme profit. Some of them even stole from jewelry stores or archaeologists to get rare or antique jewels. They were here in Beach City because they were informed that human-like beings were nearby who had gems embedded into their body. It was hard to believe, but they if this was the case, and the informant's description of these beings was true, then the rarity and profitability went through the roof. These "walking gems" had huge jewels in their body, and if they were killed, those gems would be available to sell for an unmatched price. Who knew what these jewels could do? They'd be millionaires. First, they had to figure out how to catch them. Many had brought guns and knives, but people were saying that these "gems" were very tough. They'd have to use more than brute strength. They'd have to outsmart them.
And they were right about to try it out. Once they gather enough info on where they are, which was apparently at the beachfront, on the cliffside of the mountain, they would ambush one there and try to catch it. They'd outnumber it. It wouldn't be too hard.
But no one knew exactly what they were walking into. A few of them had cold feet. But others were intent on getting that payment, no matter what these "gems" could do.
