the steel kiss (a lincoln rhyme novel) - jeffrey deaver
---
after writing a long review of this without actually spoiling anything, my internet timed out and i lost it all. so, to sum up in hopefully a quicker fashion... it admittedly took me about 200 pages to get into this book, mainly because it had a super slow build up. i also don't like the main girl, and there's a lot of perspective switching. however, the main character, lincoln rhyme, is insanely interesting, and i really like him. the killer's perspective is one i actually don't mind either, in fact it's rather enjoyable. his crimes themselves, as they add up, also make the book interesting. they've pulled together both civil and criminal cases, and are done through crazy means. while killing is obviously messed up, since this is fiction i can say that he's found a really unique way to commit these crimes, it's actually pretty cool to read the process. that sounds totally crazy, but he does it through electronic systems. how nutzo is that? i'd say more but that'd spoil it, so if you've for some reason read this and are curious, shoot me a pm. so basically, though it took awhile to get me hooked, i'm really glad i got this book. (shout out to my sociology teacher who gifted me three books of this series, including this very one! you're the best!) my only complaint is the girl, so hopefully i grow to tolerate her soon haha
