I just really like his character, but I was still super sad when he killed Han

I also feel lie he's going to try and kill Lelia too, since he wants to be like Vader and everyone who Anakin loved died

What I've been wondering, is: Who's the old guy who gave Poe the map fragment?

I actually really liked Kylo Ren. His character has a lot of potential (and I'm a sucker for characters who are horrible, pretentious nerd babies *glances sideways at Alex Kralie* ....anyway) plus he's a total badass. I loved how they introduced him and made it immediately apparent that he's not someone to mess with, and then they kept doing it. People can call him a terrible person or a whiny brat all they want, but you can't say he's an ineffective villain. It also kind of scares me, because if according to Snoke his training isn't even finished yet, then imagine this kid at full power. I can't wait to see more of him.

On the subject of the old guy, I have no clue who he is either and I can't remember them ever addressing that. If they did I missed it. Maybe Luke will reveal it later.
On the subject of that...
The map thing kind of bothers me. So Kylo decimates the new Jedi Order that Luke has built, and Luke goes into hiding out of grief or fear or whatever. He doesn't tell anyone where he's going, but he does leave a map? What was the point of that? What was his goal? And what makes it even more confusing for me is the fact that he put all of it into R2 EXCEPT FOR ONE PIECE which he gives to some random old guy in the desert??? And if R2 had the whole map minus one piece in his memory banks, WHY DIDN'T HE TELL EVERYONE THIS EARLIER?? Maybe I missed something, but personally I think the map thing as a plot was kind of weak.
I don't hate the movie for that though, and it's because it had really, really great characters. Strong characters can absolutely carry a weak plot, but it doesn't work the other way around, and I'm glad that if the writers felt that they had to pick one over the other that they picked the characters. This movie really was a character driven story and the weak plot was just a set dressing to develop the characters more and set up their story moving forward. As a writer myself, I don't think it's ideal but I do respect it.
