    idk if anyone here listens to the killers that much, but for those who do: have you guys listened to their new single 'the man'? idk how i feel about it tbh like... i like it but it is so diff?? i was kinda hoping theyd move a bit closer to their day&age days (since hot fuss is like a distant memory at this point) because they said they weren't happy with battleborn so...idk? i didnt hate battleborn, like even tho it was a new sound (and felt a bit...commercialised) so i guess i should just wait for the album

    also long shot but is anyone else here psyched for the jungle giants album in july bc i am!!!!lkfdgsdkhfg

THIS IS REALLY BAD
I WISH I HAD THE PATIENCE TO FILL THIS OUT PROPERLY but lbr if i did i might as well write a book looool
anyways hi!!! i'm lys and i think about music pretty much every waking moment of my life (aside from ocs) so!!!! be warned because my taste is ... usually kind of everywhere, and... not pg-13 LOL,,,

favorite artist, and why;
making me choose just ONE fffff;;; i mean, i love a bunch of artists for very different reasons and the genres i listen to are pretty diverse, so i don't think it's really fair to just name ONE yknow... so i guess i'll list some favorites???

clipping
bjork
jerry paper
chon
kashiwa daisuke
plini
delta sleep
kendrick lamar
last dinosaurs
mark redito
pavement
the strokes
mac demarco

i am SUPER into jerry paper right now (so underrated!) because i really dig his quirky production and his LYRICS aaa... also badbadnotgood appears on his newest album which gives it this completely different edge to jerry's music so it's like wHOA

favorite song, and why;
MMMM ANOTHER HARD ONE... again
im just. not going to bother with this one because it's just. too hard. ask me for my loved tracklist from last.fm and we mighht get somewhere

favorite album, and why;
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

tpab/gkmc - kendrick lamar - i know this is 2 albums but lol,, i mean do i really need to explain why these two are faves
midcity, clppng - clipping ; tbh i love everything clipping does hahaha, i haven't finished listening to splendor & misery yet but i probably love it too tbh
in the aeroplane over the sea - neutral milk hotel ;; i rly don't want to explain this either i mean it's THAT album yknow
bottomless pit - death grips ; i'm not a hardcore dg fan but this album was super fun and punchy and catchy KIDS DONT LISTEN ITS AWFUL

ok if i keep writing descriptions we'll be sitting here all day so i'll just list the names of the rest of the albums i love:

floral ep - floral
handmade cities - plini
the black one - sunn o)))
wellness - last dinosaurs
twin galaxies - delta sleep
observatory mansions - nicole dollanganger
emotion - carly rae jepsen
jazz finding loop records - jan jelinek
the golden morning breaks - colleen

dlkd there's a lot so i have to edit this later when i'm not so tired

favorite genre;
probably mathrock if i had to pick just one??? i also love r&b, hiphop, futurebass, futurefunk, idk a lot of genres that i don't even have names for too

favorite music news source [if any];
theneedledrop, sputnik, pitchfork

least favorite artist, and why;
WOW THAT'S PRETTY HARD TOO
i dislike twenty-one pilots a lot as well as what's her name,,, uh,, the singer with the song that's like WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALLLLLLLLLL i mean she's a great singer/songwriter but idk i just Don't Like That Type of Music,,, but i think my least favorite of all time is halsey LOL,, i mean if you couldn't tell by the artists i've already listed, i'm like some deep end edgelord with music,,, or at least i'm trying looool

least favorite song, and why;
payphone by maroon 5 lol i have such annoying memories associated with it

favorite music service
bandcamp! i also use spotify a lot... and youtube

favorite platform? (records, cds, digital, etc.);
i can't afford the vinyl collection of my dreams so i just stream most my stuff... i'd like a CD collection though... it's so convenient to pop a cd in the car vs fumbling with my phone all the time LOL

sry for double post but i wanted to talk about jerry paper!! he's pretty underrated; i found him from watching adult swim animation bumps LOL

i wrote this up on my blog a while ago:

i just have to tell you about these feels i'm catching listening to jerry paper's music. i recently stumbled on him while watching one of those weird adult swim animations (that i kind of love a lot actually) and the music off the animation caught my ear. that led my down to jerry paper's bandcamp and boy oh boy

his recent stuff is very mac demarco influenced which i love, but! his older work resonates with me more, especially chameleon world (2014) ... i don't have the time or energy to talk super in depth about the album but i'll try to summarize my feelings about jerry paper's music concisely.

take kirby, jazz, bo en, a dash of mac demarco, a sprinkle of funk and put them together and you have a good idea of jerry's music imo. i'm particularly listening to "real. now. love." which is probably one of my favorite tracks from jerry paper and this song, and his music in general, is full of these quirky, cheerful, yet sweetly nostalgic chord progressions that really tug at the heart for me. production-wise, his music sounds like it came straight out of kirby dreamland 3 and gosh do i love the way it sounds.

but maybe the most resonate thing in jerry's music are his lyrics about feeling disconnected from reality/other people yet wanting to connect and feel close to others. his lyrics are sweet and often times funny, but maybe most importantly is the poignancy found at the core of his music. jerry's music is like a pastel-colored amusement park where the only person there is you — there's all the joy in the world to have, yet no one to share it with. it's a lonely place to be.

and i have to also mention i really love jerry's vocal delivery. it's not the cleanest or most skilled vocal performance ever, but the languid, kind of distorted quality of his voice compliments his music well imo, and it adds a bit of edge to his otherwise very crisp, cheerful production

p much been hooked for the last three weeks fdgjdgd if i had more energy i'd expand on these thoughts;;;;;

also i'm starting an album by kaytranada and it's my first time listening to them!!! exciting bc the first track was wild

also some other albums i've checked out recently for good measure: oneohtrix point never - the garden of delete / mac demarco - this old dog / jerry paper - toon time raw / jerry paper - chameleon world

I may or may not have gotten someone hooked on Them Crooked Vultures... They asked me to link them some rock songs so I found them Cult Of Personality by Living Colour, 5/4 by Gorillaz and Dead End Friends by Them Crooked Vultures and a couple of days later they said "I can't stop listening to Them Crooked Vultures"
I got Skate 3 a month or so ago too and there's some good stuff in there. I found a Mudhoney song I liked and Dead End Friends is on there too. It and Gunman are probably my favourites from the album right now

Also, I have hella money, I'm buying Declaration Of Conformity :D

It's been nearly a week since I got it in the post but I found a CD copy on ebay for £15, free shipping! The case is missing the back plate but the liner notes are there and the CD is in remarkably great condition for it most likely being around 20 years old!* No scratches or anything. The seller was really nice too,
I couldn't log into my email when it was on its way but when I remembered my password and got into my emails I found that the guy had given me a few updates on when the CD was going in the post and its estimated arrival time which I thought was pretty cool. It was a struggle to get the music off the disc cause it's an audio CD, the accessible files when you look at the disc in the file explorer are .cda, which is 44 bytes of code which indicates where on the disc the song starts and ends.
Kinda like a record, I thought. Brought it to a guy at college who teaches me game design and he told me to put it into windows media player which gave me the option to rip the CD in a variety of formats so now I don't have to deal with my badly pirated version anymore! c:

* - WWC were never a popular band, I've only seen two or three people who know of them and they liked Soundgarden to begin with. I think it's safe to assume the CD is 20 years old- I've never seen the .cda format before now, the case is a bit scratched despite the seller having kept it all in good conditions, the band are pretty obscure and thus there's little to no demand for their albums.
Shame, but that's the way it goes. q:

(happy birthday guadalupe) (wth me) and some others like uh.... throw shade by CRUISR is real catchy + hanging upside down by lime cordiale + tongue tied by grouplove (but the middle part kinda ruins it for me) and... i've been goin back to eskimo joe fr some reason and listening to the wombats againn

favorite artist, and why; At the moment, my favorite artist is BTS because out of a lot of the single artists and groups I've listened to, they have quite the variety of different songs. They also constantly share how grateful they are for the fans that love support them, and I find that extraordinary.
favorite song and why; My current favorite song is "Here Comes a Thought" sung by Estelle, and AJ Michalka, from the Steven Universe soundtrack. I love this song because it hit a topic that I haven't really seen before in a show like that. How One of the characters helps another ease their anxieties and find harmony. I'm also really loving BLACKPINK's new song "As If It's Your Last".
favorite album, and why; It's probably going to have to be "Bloomsday" by Esbe. The entire album is so beautiful and atmospheric.
favorite genre; Indie and K-Pop
least favorite artist, and why; Logan Paul
least favorite song, and why; I can't think of one that I especially dislike right now.
favorite music service; Spotify
favorite platform? (records, cds, digital, etc.); I think digital, since it is the quickest and easiest way to get to your music, but my second choice would definitely be records.
