I've come back to ChickenSmoothie after a several years long hiatus
and am interested in engaging in art selling here again to keep practicing while filling in the gaps that have grown in my collection.

I will do commissions for rares, uncommon pets on my wishlist, and bulk batches of stage-1 newborns whose results are not yet known. In some circumstances I may accept art trades. See the prices post for more information.

Rules

TL;DR short version, plus some details for those who want clarification.

Respect and observe all on-site rules.

Be patient. I am not on Chicken Smoothie every day, and it may take me a while to register and complete commissions. If I am suffering from artist's block, I will try to tell you, but you may have to bear with me while I get around to, or finish, your piece. If you need to contact me for any reason, including to remind me of something I seem to have forgotten or failed to notice, PM me! My inbox is always open.

Send me your payment trade when you submit your form, and add a comment stating that it is art payment. I will not start your artwork until you send me the trade. I will accept the trade only after the art is finished. If you do not add a comment in the trade that it is art payment, I might mistake it as a gift instead.

If you decide you no longer want your art, tell me by PM as soon as possible! If I haven't started work on the design yet, there is no problem. If I have already started work and then have to cancel, I may not be willing to work with you in the future.

Artwork Rights

You may post the art anywhere you want, with credit to me!

You may make small edits to the artwork, as long as the design is still more or less the same.

This limitation is so that I am not credited with a design which is not my own style.

You may use your artwork in other, derivative artwork, e.g. a signature banner, avatar, etc.

You may make or buy more art with the same character design.


You may not claim to have drawn or coloured your artwork.

You may not use artwork that was not made for you.

You may not use my line arts yourself for character designs.

I will charge more for significant edits or additions to the line arts, or intricate patterns such as leopard spotted fur. Small details like jewelry are free. See the Prices post for more information about what the $ signs mean.

Pencil & Paper Custom Drawings

Pencil Sketch [$$]
An uncoloured sketch with some detail; commissioner may decide whether I leave sketch lines in or "tidy it up".

Inked and Cleaned [$$$]
An uncoloured sketch with the final lines gone over in pen, and (optionally) all pencil sketch lines erased, to leave a clean, crisp image.

You can order a full-scale drawing with more detail and more time put in, for double the price of a smaller, simpler sketch.

Dollies [$$]

I can make a dolly version of almost any character based on the same basic shape seen below.
I already have a large library of existing line arts for different heads, tails, wings, horns, and clothing. If you see it on one of the existing dollies, chances are I can use it for yours!

NEW line art edits with some complexity (like a new tail, wings, hair, piece of clothing) will cost extra.
Minor line art edits like simple jewelry and tattoos are free.

$$ can be paid with 4 wishlist uncommons or 2 rares. You can also pay with newborns or other special pets, see the pricing post.

You are allowed to commission a dolly as a gift for someone else, if you want. I will send the finished dolly to its intended recipient to prevent this offer being abused to steal designs.

The $ level can be paid twice to equal $$ or three times to equal $$$, so that for example:

Are you an artist or aspiring artist? Want to trade artwork for artwork and leave CS pets out of it?
I like getting custom artwork.

However there may be differences in our skill or the amount of effort we're looking to put in - I would like to try to make art trades reasonably even. That is, if I'm going to put a couple of hours into a sketch for you, I'll be disappointed and feel taken advantage of if the piece that's traded back doesn't make me happy.
It's not easy to make rules for this and almost impossible to guarantee anything in an art trade, so I think it's important to keep a high standard of respect and clarity when trading art:

Be very clear about the standard of quality you're asking for, and the standard of quality you're offering
If we're just doing little pencil doodles, that's fine, as long as we both know it.

Link to examples of your artwork to demonstrate your style
When you're asking to get into an art trade with me, show me what you can do. There are examples of my work linked in the Archives section

If you want a specific thing to be drawn, give a specific description

It's good to go further
When you're not sure whether your drawing is good enough, put a little more work into it. It feels awesome when people exceed my expectations, and pretty awful when people don't meet them. I tend to be a perfectionist in my own work, and will appreciate time and detail that goes into trades with me.

Delivery and Delays
To prevent unfairness, it would probably be best to try to deliver both sides of an art trade at about the same time, so sending a message like "I'm ready to send it! Are you?" before sending the artwork sounds good to me.
Always set a time limit, and if you can't meet it, always get in contact to explain why. If I don't tell you why I haven't gotten back to you about your art yet, send me a polite PM to remind me. I probably just got distracted. I'll try to do the same for you.

This art trading thing is a new addition to my shop, and I'm not sure how it'll go, but I think I'm willing to give it a try.
