I knew inactive accounts don't effect the rarity, though I don't remember the cut off for "inactive". I would very much like to see the quotes and data though from August 2012 ^^

I did some quick digging and this is what I found:

So I went to Nick's profile and searched for 'rarity'. And look what I found:

The only real way for the rarity of pets to fall is for the number of "active players" to drop, since this is used to work out how many people are competing to collect pets. That's the number of accounts that have logged in within the last year.


And one more:

I believe this is what nickjr meant?

The butterfly wolves mentioned are here, and the lions are here. (Lion numbers are from item numbers on a system account after the faire, because they were trade-in rewards, I think; I can pull up the post with that later if desired)

Those numbers are just raw numbers and we're missing the number of active users and the number of active pets, but I think the raw numbers are nice to have for comparison.
Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.

And since some lock them away to prevent them being deleted it will take a very long time.
